Master Detective Archives: Rain Code+ is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, launching on 18th July. With a ‘+’ at the end of the game name, this is an enhanced version of the game that first launched on Nintendo Switch last June, giving it around one year of timed exclusivity.
Announced by the team on Twitter, and per the latest issue of Weekly Famitsu, Master Detective Archives: Rain Code+ will have 4K resolution support and a gallery mode, as well as bundling in the DLC that was a part of the Season Pass for the Switch version. More details will be revealed tomorrow.
Coming from the minds behind the Danganronpa series, Master Detective Archives: Rain Code casts you as an amnesia detective in training named Yuma, haunted by Shinigami who helps to tackle unsolved mysteries in a city that’s subjected to constant rain. As you investigate mysteries, the Mystery Labyrinth is gradually opened up to you, giving you a path to the truth at the heart of the case, though with the danger that reality does not apply within this realm.
We had a grand old time with the game on Switch, with Reu saying in our Master Detective Archives: Rain Code review “If you can look past (or appreciate) the brazen clichés and huge levels of fan service, Master Detective Archives: Rain Code is a phenomenal murder mystery visual novel. The gorgeous world, wonderful characters and genuinely well-constructed mysteries combine into a thoroughly enjoyable if bizarre experience. If other similar games like Danganronpa or Ace Attorney are your bag, this is definitely worth investigating.”
