There are plenty of video games left in 2023 that will excite players and potentially keep the “Game of the Year” race wide open. One such title is Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, which will arrive on October 20th. The game is the long-awaited sequel from Insomniac Games, and they’ve been working hard to deliver a memorable sequel to follow up the original title from PS4 and the spinoff with Miles Morales that helped ring in the PS5. Gamers are looking forward to many of the new gameplay elements and characters that will debut, including Kraven the Hunter’s arrival.
In the comics, Kraven is one of the more interesting characters in Spider-Man’s rogues gallery. Whether he’s “evil” depends on interpretation and the comics’ plot. He’s been both heroic, an anti-hero, and a villain over his life. But what drives him more than anything is the “thrill of the hunt.” He wants to know that he will be given a challenge, as his hunter skills are second to none. As we found out in the story trailer from earlier this year, he’s given a look at the superheroes and villains of New York and is easily intrigued by them and decides to bring his hunter army with him to the Big Apple.
While we don’t fully know what his plans are, we do know that he’ll flood the city with his army and that they’ll attempt to capture villains like The Lizard for Kraven to “have fun with.” In a new image on Twitter, Insomniac Games showed off a new look at Kraven the Hunter:

With a month to go until launch, developers Insomniac Games have announced that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, the long-awaited sequel to the 2018 superhero hit, has officially gone gold and completed development, meaning it’s on track for its release next month, and fans can officially get hyped for its release.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is one of the biggest games left in 2023 that fans are dying to get their hands on. The title has been getting lots of information and trailers lately, and Insomniac Games isn’t afraid to “spill some tea” on what you might be able to see and do as you swing around the city. As gamers found out earlier this year, when you’re in the open-world setting of New York, you’ll have the option to swap between Peter Parker and Miles Morales. That’s important because not only is this game about both characters but there are tasks and missions specifically assigned to them.
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 players may bump into Peter or Miles during their adventures in New York, developer Insomniac Games has revealed.
You can look forward to a huge Marvel's Spider-Man 2 blowout here on Push Square tomorrow, but for now, check out this new PS5 trailer all about the open world. It explains how you'll swap between playing as each Spider-Man, what optional activities look like and how you'll find them, and a hint at side quests.
Insomniac Games has revealed the time it should take to complete . The highly anticipated sequel seems to have much more for players to enjoy, from a New York map that's almost doubled in size with the inclusion of Queens and Brooklyn to the ability to play as both Peter Parker and Miles Morales, swapping between them instantly across the open world and optimizing a variety of gadgets and special abilities across both heroes.
Last week further cemented the hype around Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, as a duo of trailers brought forth information about the 65 suits you’ll be able to put onto Peter Parker or Miles Morales as they attempt to save the city, the digital deluxe exclusives you can get, and the massive amount of stuff to do in New York City. However, that wasn’t the only piece of information that fans got. A demo went around for certain people; through this, more insight was brought about the Symbiote Suit and the “catalyst” villain for the game, Kraven The Hunter.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is improving and expanding upon its predecessors in a number of areas, from combat to traversal and much more, and as you’d expect from an open world sequel, it is, of course, set to be a much larger experience as well. But though its New York is going to be roughly twice as large as the map of its two predecessors, that’s not going to result in a significantly longer experience.
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is still a little over a month away, but a new round of previews has given us a whole lot more info about this new version of New York and what players can expect to do and find while zipping across the city. For example, we discovered that the backpack collectibles from both the first game and Spider-Man: Miles Morales have been removed in favor of small Spider-Bots that you can find throughout New York.
To say that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is one of the most hyped games this year would be an understatement. It’s the sequel to 2018’s Marvel’s Spider-Man, which sold millions. Insomniac Games dropped a new gameplay trailer, showcasing the various open-world activities that New York offers. As it turns out, regardless of frame rate, you’ll be enjoying ray tracing throughout.
Insomniac Games is bringing together two Spider-Men for a sequel that it hopes will elevate what has come before by iterating on it.
This past week has been a good one for Spidey fans. With just over a month until Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 swings onto the PS5 console, we’re getting a clearer idea of what we can expect come October 20. Insomniac Games has given us a closer look at the Super Hero and Super Villains cast with new character posters. Little under 24 hours ago we enjoyed a tour of the expanded Marvel’s New York (and a look at new suits) at State of Play. And today, you can get a deeper dive into the game’s combat, activities, story and more thanks to an extensive hands-on we had with a preview build of the game, bolstered by further insight from key staff who worked on the project – Senior Creative Director Bryan Intihar, Senior Game Director Ryan Smith, and Senior Narrative Director Jon Paquette.
