It’s safe to assume that Venom is going to be the star of the show in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, but of course, he isn’t going to be the only antagonist that our two heroes will be locking horns with in the highly anticipated sequel. On top of the struggles in their own personal lives, as New York’s two Spider-Men, Peter and Miles will also be fighting against other famous Spider-Man villains in the form of Lizard and Kraven the Hunter. In fact, the latter is going to be the “catalyst” for the entire story.
That’s according to narrative director Jon Paquette, who said during the Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 San Diego Comic-Con panel last week that Kraven the Hunter is the “catalyst for everything happening” in the game’s story, including the new villains who’ll be emerging, and even Miles coming face-to-face with the first game’s villain, Mister Negative, which we got a glimpse of in the recent story trailer.
“For us, it realy started with Kraven,” Paquette said during the panel. “He’s our catalyst for the story. Before the game starts, he’s halfway around the world, being Kraven, hunting, trying to find the ultimate prey. And he watched from afar as the events of the first two games occurred, and he decided, ‘you know what, there’s a lot of stuff going on in New York City. That might be my new hunting ground.’
“So like I said, Kraven is our catalyst for everything happening. When he comes to New York City, a lot of things start going wrong. We have Lizard coming out, we have the Symbiote coming out. And as you saw briefly in that trailer, Miles is forced to come face-to-face with Mister Negative, the guy who killed his dad. So there’s a lot of drama that’s happening in this game.”
During the panel, it was also revealed that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s expanded open world map will also allow players to visit Aunt May’s house in Queens, among various other Marvel and real-world landmarks.

While it may be hard to pin down who did the first “custom console,” it’s not hard to notice that there are a lot of them out in the gaming world right now. Whenever Microsoft, Sony, or Nintendo release a major AAA title, they tend to give players the option of buying a custom console with designs from the game in question to make them feel “more connected” to it. Though they are usually a bit more expensive than the standard models, many gamers flock to get them, and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 PS5 isn’t going to be any different.

When it comes to trailers, most people like to point out the view counts for ones like TV shows or movies, as they can “gauge interest” in what is coming up. The Marvel Cinematic Universe and DC Comics films are sometimes famous for their trailer viewer counts. But when it comes to video games, you don’t often hear about how well a trailer is doing unless it’s for a very highly-anticipated title. One such title got a trailer last week at San Diego Comic-Con, and the numbers back up the fact that many people are waiting for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 with bated breath.
