Thanks to a coworker's generosity, one Xbox fan received a few older games to add to their collection of Xbox and Xbox 360 titles. The Xbox fan then posted their collection of games on social media, which featured a mix of movie tie-in games as well as classic entries from series that put the Xbox brand on the map.
Originally released in November 2001, the first Xbox console was launched as a competitor to the PS2 and the GameCube and was Microsoft's first foray into the home console market. While it was among the first home consoles to bring online multiplayer into the spotlight with Xbox Live, the original Xbox console trailed behind the competition in sales figures. Though the Xbox was discontinued five years after its launch, and subsequently succeeded by the Xbox 360, the console was where game series such as Haloand Forza Motorsport got started. The Xbox 360 was a successful console in its own right, as the continued growth of Xbox Live and online multiplayer made it a household staple across North America in the 2000s.
Though the Xbox and the Xbox 360 have been discontinued, some gamers still look back on them fondly. On Reddit, a user named rbennett224 shared three screenshots and talked briefly about how they received the games pictured. The OP said that someone in their coworker's family had no use for the games, and asked them if they wanted to have them. Following that, a pile of 20 Xbox games and 8 Xbox 360 games were given to the OP. Some of the Xbox games included were movie tie-ins such as Shark Tale and Pirates of the Caribbean, and some were Xbox classics such as Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republicand Need for Speed: Most Wanted. Plus, the OP received the Sonic Mega Collection Plus and Mega Man Anniversary Collection compilations, which include several titles from the 8-bit and 16-bit eras.
Though the amount of Xbox 360 games that rbennett224 received was smaller by comparison, racing games such as Forza Motorsport 3 and Forza Motorsport 4 were among the spoils. In addition, the 2008 movie trivia game Scene It? Box Office Smash was given to the OP, which included four special buzzer controllers.
In the comments, some Redditors said that the OP received a gold mine of games from their coworker. Though Xbox has turned its attention to Game Pass, that has not stopped gamers such as rbennett224 from collecting titles from Microsoft's past.
The Xbox 360 was Microsoft's successor to its original Xbox video game console. The seventh-generation device was built as a direct competitor to consoles like Sony's PS3 and Nintendo's Wii.
