Lockheed Martin Selected to Develop Nuclear Propelled Spacecraft

There are many debates in the video game space that are likely never to be settled. But one of the biggest is the question of “console exclusivity.” Simply put, many gamers don’t like that numerous big-name franchises are either rooted on one console or are unlikely to get ported to other systems until much later. A great example of this is Final Fantasy 16. The game by Square Enix was released on PlayStation 5 recently and will stay there for many months until it is ported to PC. It won’t go to Xbox or Nintendo. But one of the game’s producers wishes things were simpler.

The fear of artificial intelligence (AI) endangering human existence is not new. Since AI first began making waves, experts have expressed concern about this technology that can hypothetically even gain sentience one day. In 1950, American writer Isaac Asimov published his book "I, Robot", which explored this theme. Then, in 1984, James Cameron's film The Terminator took the stage and showcased the killer AI that caused the apocalypse. However, in 2023, those who are expressing concerns are entrepreneurs that are working with this technology, governments, and AI scientists themselves. Recently, one AI expert stated that AI will cause the first extinction event for humans by triggering events such as nuclear war and virus outbreaks.

NASA spacecraft called STEREO-A will be visiting Earth after 17 long years of watching the Sun. Even as it does so, it will be passing inside a solar storm and sending the valuable data back to Earth to better chart our closest star. In effect, STEREO-A will be inside a solar eruption and that means it's not just what STEREO-A will see as it flies by Earth, but also what it will “feel,” that could lead to major discoveries.

Every year there are various space missions conducted to study the mysteries of the solar system. One such mission was launched by NASA nearly 17 years back to study the Sun. The spacecraft, known as the STEREO-A, collected data and was instrumental in unveiling various discoveries over the years. It had a partner too in the form of STEREO-B craft, but communication was lost with it. Now after 17 years, the STEREO-A spacecraft is rushing towards a rendezvous with the Earth. Notably, NASA has taken this opportunity to make STEREO-A further study the Sun from this vantage point in order to collect new information about our closest star.

Sony has reportedly begun rolling out public beta access for cloud gaming on the PS5. As per ResetEra user ArashiGames, chosen PS Plus Premium members will be able to stream select games at up to 4K resolution. While the company confirmed the addition of cloud streaming in June, it's only now that we're learning about the supported resolution. That said, it's unclear whether the maximum resolution refers to the in-game graphical fidelity or the streaming resolution, but a screenshot suggests that available resolutions are entirely dependent on the player's internet connection. The core idea is that you can play games from the cloud without actually owning or downloading any of them.
