Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth is seemingly locking its New Game Plus mode, titled the Master Vacation pack, behind purchases of the Deluxe version of the game.
Yesterday, Sega and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio hosted the RGG Summit Fall 2023 showcase and revealed a ton of new details about Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth, including its official release date, a ton of new gameplay footage, and some plot details, like the fact that Kazuma Kiryu is now battling cancer.

After revealing the game's release date, pre-orders for Infinite Wealth and its various digital and physical editions also went live, revealing some of the bonuses and content that each version will come with. One of them is causing a bit of controversy for fans, however, as it looks like New Game Plus will be locked behind the Deluxe version of the game.
As pointed out by Redditor NoTangelo3604 on the Like A Dragon subreddit, the official Like A Dragon website reveals that the Master Vacation pack that comes with the Deluxe and Ultimate versions of the game is actually just a New Game Plus mode, one that seemingly won't be in the game unless you pay extra.
The description for the pack reads, "Use your Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth clear data to play New Game+ in one of three difficulty levels (Normal, Hard, and Legend). Experience the all-new story of the Big Swell and enjoy special outfits and items available only in this bundle". It's not clear if the DLC included in the Deluxe and Ultimate versions of the game will be released separately, but even if they are, it's still not a great move to lock a mode that's standard fare for most games behind a paywall.
This isn't the first time that this has happened in the Yakuza series, either. As noted in the Reddit thread, Sega also tried this with Like A Dragon 7 in Japan and was met with an enormous amount of backlash for doing so, which seemingly hasn't stopped it from repeating that mistake for Infinite Wealth.
To make matters even more confusing, it's also not currently clear whether or not the Deluxe and Ultimate versions of Infinite Wealth will get physical releases, or if it's just going to be the standard edition of the game. If it is just the standard edition, then fans who decide to go for the physical release of the game will also have to shell out extra for the Master Vacation pack in order to get New Game Plus, if it's even sold separately from those editions.
