Lies of P Sells 1 Million in Less Than a Month

Following the massive pandemic-induced boom experienced in 2020 and 2021 (+26.3% and +9.8%, respectively), when consumers turned to gaming en masse while forced at home, the games industry inevitably declined by around 5% last year when everyone was once again free to pursue other hobbies. This year, global revenue numbers will return to growth, but developers and publishers should get used to a reduced annual growth rate.

Lies of P publisher Neowiz has announced a new game update, teased the game’s first DLC, and confirmed plans to release a sequel.

Publisher Neowiz and developer Round8 Studio will release a balance patch for Soulslike action RPG Lies of P in November, the companies announced in a video letter from director Jiwon Choi. Additionally, the companies debuted the first concept artwork for the upcoming downloadable content.

A podcast by Embark Studios—creators of the upcoming FPS The Finals—has hinted that the game will be using AI voice lines for the foreseeable future. The explanation, however, has left some voice actors feeling confused, at best.

Sega and Nier creator Yoko Taro's collaboration game, 404 Game Re:set -Error Game Reset- will shut down in January 2024, nine months after it launched.

The Diablo 4 Steam reviews are already ‘mixed,’ as players take to Valve’s platform to share their responses to Blizzard’s RPG alongside the launch of Diablo 4 Season 2. Less than 24 hours since the Diablo IV Steam launch, hundreds of reviews express a combination of praise and criticism, lowering Diablo 4’s current score to less than 60%. While the game has been available on PC since June, its Steam release has attracted under 2,500 players. Meanwhile, Overwatch 2, another Activision Blizzard game recently relaunched on Steam, still has an ‘overwhelmingly negative’ rating based on user reviews.

Less than a week after saying that sales of turn-based tactics game The Lamplighters League were "a big disappointment" and confirming major layoffs at developer Harebrained Schemes, Paradox Interactive has announced that it has «decided to part ways» with the studio. Paradox said the split was a mutual decision, «stemming from each party’s strategic and creative priorities,» and that HBS will officially be independent again on January 1, 2024.

Pinocchio souslike Lies of P has hit a major sales milestone in just under one month, despite being both a new IP and available on Xbox and PC Game Pass on day one. With more of the action RPG on the way, it’s safe to say that developer Round8 Studio has found itself a hit, and it looks like it will continue to grow.
