Star Trek: Discovery star Doug Jones wanted to appear in the new Star Trek series, Star Trek: Starfleet Academy. Jones portrayed the character of Saru in Star Trek. ISRO has achieved a significant milestone with the successful launch and landing of Pushpak viman, an SUV-sized winged rocket often dubbed as the "Swadeshi space shuttle." The test, conducted in Karnataka, saw Pushpak viman make a precise landing on a runway after being released from an Air Force helicopter. This accomplishment marks a major stride in India's endeavor to enter the reusable rocket segment, signaling a promising advancement in the country's space exploration efforts.

Without Alone in the Dark, quite simply, there is no survival horror as we know it today. Way back in 1992, when the original game led us down the haunted hallways of the Derceto mansion for the first time, the impact that ill-fated journey would have on the landscape of video games could not have been fully understood. 

Alone in the Dark is the definition of slow burn horror – something that’s pretty much a given when playing, reading, or watching anything that takes heavy inspiration from the works of H.P. Lovecraft. A modern take of the 1992 classic created by Infogrames, it’s easy to see why THQ wanted to take a punt at reanimating the series, especially when you consider the back-to-back successes Capcom has enjoyed with its recent string of Resident Evil remakes. After all, it was Alone in the Dark that inspired Shinji Mikami in creating the very first Resident Evil all those years ago. Both games took place in a sprawling manor complex teeming with jump scares and puzzles, though Alone in the Dark veered more towards the occult and committing to a period setting.

The Alone in the Dark franchise is no stranger to attempted reboots and revivals, and we’ve got another one of those on our hands now. Developer Pieces Interactive and publisher THQ Nordic’s Alone in the Dark, an expanded reimagining of the series’ first instalment, is out now for PC and consoles. In spite of all its shortcomings, Alone in the Dark is a game we can't help but have a soft spot for. It's packed full of glitches at launch. The combat feels awful. It's not scary whatsoever, and the stealth sequences are dreadful. Yet, there's such a clear passion for the survival horror genre coursing through it that it comes out the other side still a relatively enjoyable experience. On paper, Alone in the Dark is not a good video game. However, with a fondness for the PS1 original and that classic Resident Evil-style gameplay, it's a PS5 title with its heart in the right place.

Contrary to how it may appear in certain other circles, not all reviewers take pleasure in writing negative reviews of games.

It's an exciting time for Stardew Valley players, as creator Eric Barone has been slowly dishing out updates over the course of the past week, all culminating in the release of Patch 1.6 earlier today. It added a bunch of new features, including new festivals and seasonal events, a mastery system, a new farm type, more NPC interactions, and much more.

There’s something in the gaming waters right now in terms of remaking classic games. While 2024’s Alone in the Dark isn’t the first remake of the seminal 1992 game that inspired the survival horror genre, it’s by far the most high profile. The protagonists Detective Edward Carnby and Emily Hartwood bear the likenesses and voices of actors David Harbour and Jodie Comer respectively, adding a distinct Hollywood flavor to this game that feels like it should be an HBO series.

The new Alone in the Dark game, a relaunch of the horror series that first launched in 1992, is not quite what we expected it to be. And for the most part, being surprised is a good thing in this case!

Pieces Interactive’s Alone in the Dark, a reimagining of the legendary survival horror franchise, is out soon. It sees players controlling Edward Carnby and Emily Hartwood as they explore Derceto Manor in 1920s Louisiana. The PC requirements have been revealed before its launch, with all configurations requiring a solid-state drive, Windows 10/11 64-bit and 50 GB installation space.
