In many ways, Insomniac’s Spider-Man universe has achieved what the MCU failed to do: establish a relatable, epic Spidey tale that captures the flair of the classic comics. From Peter Parker’s persona to his relationship with Aunt May and his archnemeses, Insomniac’s first Spider-Man on the PlayStation 4 remains one of the finest superhero games ever made. Now, as Insomniac’s Spider-Man 2 draws ever closer, we’re about to witness that same universe and story come to life once more – only this time, the stakes will be higher than ever before. Featuring an amazing (no pun intended) cast of heroes and villains, Spider-Man 2 already looks like the game that every Spidey fan has ever wanted.

One of the critical reasons why fans should be excited about this game lies in the plot. While the first game created a unique story using bits and pieces of Spidey lore, Spider-Man 2 seems ready to tackle one of the best storylines ever seen in the comic: Kraven’s Last Hunt.
Some fans might think adapting Kraven’s Last Hunt so “early” in Insomniac’s saga makes little sense. After all, the story only makes sense once we consider the long and arduous rivalry between Kraven and Spidey – something absent in the Insomniac universe so far. Still, suppose Arkham Asylum managed to tell a convincing story of old foes as the first entry in its series. In that case, it’s safe to assume that Insomniac can establish the Spider and the Hunter’s rivalry for Spider-Man 2.
The way Insomniac has utilized the Spider-Man IP is nothing short of spectacular. Many would agree that the characters in the game are the best versions of the legendary characters we’ve seen since the Raimi days. There’s something uniquely heartbreaking about that scene between Peter and Aunt May in the first Spider-Man game that the MCU never managed to match. Not to rain on Marisa Tomei‘s parade, but Nancy Linari made us care for Aunt May again, as the character – and her relationship with Peter – is something that feels even more authentic than the live-action MCU films.

A common complaint with the MCU’s take on Spidey is how it feels like he’s just Iron Man’s successor. Tom Holland never got his time to shine as his own Spidey – not even in No Way Home, where he only played the part of Tobey Maguire’s successor. On the other hand, Insomniac has made it clear that this is a story about all things Spider-Man. It’s clear that the writers and designers love Spider-Man – not only as a character but as an icon representing the entirety of the comic book medium.

This morning, Nintendo confirmed that a live action Zelda movie is in production. Nintendo and Arad Productions will produce the movie; interestingly, financing will be handled by Nintendo (for more than half of the budget) and Sony Pictures Entertainment, with the latter handling global theatrical distribution.
Even before the initial announcement of the Super Mario Bros. Movie Nintendo had begun to show more and more interest in moving into more purely visual media from shows to movies. With the insanely hit success that was Super Mario Bros. it comes as no surprise that more plans for future franchise adaptions were likely underway. We’ve seen hints of potentially more coming for Mario, but one other major franchise that seemed likely to crop up was The Legend of Zelda. Fans have discussed this at length online, but the direction it could take was unknown. Many wanted an actual episodic series covering the various games, while many were hoping for some sort of anime be it movie or long form series. Today we’ve gotten our very first look at what’s to come for new Zelda media and it’s taken the form of a planned live action film. While we don’t have many details on this revelation just yet, the news dropped without much fanfare at all coming directly from Nintendo’s official twitter account of all places in both Japanese and English.

is replete with additions and improvements to the previous titles from developer Insomniac Games, but one feature that isn't present is a huge missed opportunity. The newest entry expands on its predecessors by putting both Peter Parker and Miles Morales at the forefront, testing their mettle and web-slinging prowess against threats new and old. From a world with increased density and scale to developments like seamless fast travel that can jump to any point on the map, Insomniac Games pushed the envelope in many ways while failing to implement an age-old option that generates fun.
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 has a lot of movie suits, lifting them from Spider-Verse, Sam Raimi's trilogy, the Amazing duo, and the MCU, but for whatever reason, they don't have colour palettes like all the others. However, one fan has come up with a neat suggestion for how that could be remedied.
