Developer Ascendant Studios has released a major update for its magic-based first-person shooter Immortals of Aveum. The update, dubbed the Echollector update, brings with it a host of changes and new features to the game. Celebrating the update is a new trailer that you can check out below.
The studio has also released a new demo for Immortals of Aveum on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, this time around taking all of the game’s new features into account.
Headlining the update is the addition of a New Game+ mode, which allows players to start a fresh playthrough of its campaign while still preserving their progression, including gear, resources, talents, Arcanum, health, and mana upgrades.
The update also brings with it a new endgame activity, which becomes available once the player reaches Glaivegate. The new activity revolves around taking on corrupted Shroudfanes, dubbed Shatterfanes, in the hunt for new gear, as well as a new epic boss battle against the Echollector, and new lore. The four fanes are in Pale Forest, Shrineforge, Oremen, and Glaivegate. To progress through the Acroamatic Fane (the fourth and final fane in Glaivegate), you need to beat the other 3 fanes.

The new game plus mechanic in is intriguing, but future Bethesda games like and would be better off without it. Bethesda’s latest title has been the subject of much debate since its launch, and critique has only grown as the players have spent more time with it. NG+ is one of the most prominent points of contention for several reasons. It is a bit concerning for the studio's future titles, especially if Bethesda decides to double down on the mechanic. Of course, future iterations would likely be better than what it is in, but it can be argued that Bethesda games don’t even need new game plus to begin with.
