Alan Wake 2 Seemingly Getting New Game Plus This Month

Remedy Entertainment has released a new update for Alan Wake 2, which is live on all platforms. It fixes an issue where players couldn’t pick up Saga’s inventory capacity upgrades in two locations. More importantly, it corrects some issues with New Game Plus (introduced in The Final Manuscript update).

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 fans itching to return to New York for some New Game Plus action will need to wait just a little while longer; developer Insomniac Games has announced it's delaying the previously promised mode — alongside a number of other features — into «early» 2024 for some additional testing ahead of release.

Insomniac Games has announced that it is targeting an early 2024 release window for the much-awaited New Game Plus update for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. The studio, announcing the release window over social media platform X, stated that it needs more more time to test the feature.

It was announced last week that Alan Wake 2 would be adding its promised New Game Plus mode soon, and the mode is now available. Remedy Entertainment has released a new update that now lets you take a finished save of the game and begin another playthrough where you will retain all of your previously unlocked videos, Charms, and upgrades.

After years of working, we released Alan Wake 2 a bit over a month ago. We wanted to create an ambitious, unique game, and with something like that there’s always nervousness about how it will be received. The reception has been beyond anything we could have hoped for, with Alan Wake 2 taking home The Game Awards trophies for Best Narrative, Best Art Direction, and Best Game Direction. We are deeply grateful for that. 

Although Remedy’s latest narrative-driven project didn’t end up bringing home the Game of the Year award at last night’s Game Awards, it did walk away with several other victories, including Best Game Direction, Best Art Direction and Best Narrative.

After winning big last night at The Game Awards and bagging trophies in three major categories, Remedy Entertainment has just announced “The Final Draft” for Alan Wake 2; a major update that not only introduces the New Game Plus mode we’ve been waiting on, but also unlocks an additional ending to the main story.

Alan Wake II will add New Game Plus mode “The Final Draft” via a free update on December 11, Epic Games Publishing and developer Remedy Entertainment announced.

Ubisoft will release Assassin’s Creed Mirage’s New Game Plus mode as part of a title update next week.

Alan Wake 2 hit PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on October 27, but shortly before its release, developer Remedy Entertainment revealed that it would be getting a New Game Plus mode with an alternative narrative and nightmare difficulty, amongst other things. During The Game Awards 2023 last night, Remedy, which picked up three wins during the show, revealed that «The Final Draft» update, which includes the aforementioned New Game Plus mode, goes live next week.

Alan Wake 2 was one of the big winners at The Game Awards 2023, earning three awards (Best Art Direction, Best Game Direction, and Best Narrative), the most after Larian's Baldur's Gate 3.
