5 things about AI you may have missed today: Tencent gets nod for AI model, creativity and AI chatbots, more

AI Roundup: Tencent has obtained regulatory approval to launch its AI model, Hunyuan, in China. This tool already powers over 50 of Tencent's products and services. A study by Finnish and Norwegian researchers found that AI chatbots like ChatGPT-3 and ChatGPT-4 generate more creative ideas for unconventional everyday items than average humans. In a separate development, MIT researchers developed Style2Fab, a generative AI tool allowing users to customize 3D-printable models using natural language prompts while preserving functionality.

After a couple of days of furious game developer reactions, game engine company Unity have backtracked a teensy bit on their plan to charge developers who meet certain revenue and copies-sold thresholds a "runtime fee" for every installation of their game.

The Suikoden 1 and 2 remasters have been delayed with no new release date given

Suikoden fans are a real patient bunch. Decades of silence around the well-beloved RPG was broken last year when remasters of Suikoden 1 and 2 were announced at Tokyo Games Show, due to release sometime this year. Well, they were supposed to. It's time to put that patience to use once more, because the wait is going to be a little longer than originally planned.

Original Picross developers are releasing their next nonogram puzzler on Steam

There are a lot of Picross-style nonogram games available on PC these days, but many of them fail to inspire the easy, compulsive fugue of Picross itself. I'm hoping Logiart Grimoire will achieve such numbing delights when it launches into Steam Early Access next month. It's got the pedigree for it, given that it's made by Jupiter Corporation, the creator of all those original Picross games for Nintendo devices.
