With the latest season 'Adventures Abound' well underway there is a lot for players to do this Autumn including the return of Team GO Rocket boss Giovanni in October 2023. The new season has brought a new Generation of Pokémon for Trainers to collect, but the leader of Team Rocket has a familiar look to him from recent months. An opportunity to catch the Legendary Shadow Regirock awaits any Trainers that can overcome Giovanni this October.
You will first need to beat the three Team GO Rocket leadersCliff, Sierra, and Arlo, before being able to face Giovanni. Trainers can find Giovanni by spinning Pokéstops or by finding Team GO Rocket balloons. Currently, no Special Research tasks are tied to defeating Giovanni, but this will likely happen during the Adventures Abound Season until the 1st of December.

As of the start of October 2023, Giovanni's Team remains unchanged from his team that debuted in June 2023 inwhich is one of the longest stretches he has had without switching his team up. This may change during the month, with new events set to appear in the game, but for now, Giovanni will use three of five select Pokémon.
Giovanni has kept his current line-up since June 2023, so Trainers who have recently faced him will receive no surprises. He will always lead with Generation 1 Normal-type Persian, who featured heavily with him in the TV series. His second Pokémon will be one of three out of Poison- and Ground-type Nidoking, Ground- and Rock-type Rhyperior or Dragon- and Ground-type Garchomp.
Every time players face off against Giovanni his final Pokémon will always be the Legendary Shadow Rock-type Regirock, a very powerful opponent, especially for Trainers who haven't faced it before.

Giovanni can be a very tough opponent if Trainers go in unprepared, but his current line-up can be defeated as long as the right Pokémon are selected. Fighting-types are key for you to overcome Giovanni with both Persian and Regirock weak against Fighting-type attacks. There are a number of Pokémon that can be used to defeat them both, but Machamp, Lucario, or Terrakion are the best Fighting choices for Trainers.
For his second Pokémon, Giovanni will use one of three possible options, but in October 2023 all are Ground-types, which have a wide range of weaknesses. Ice-type attacks are super
