With Hideo Kojima having unveiled his studio’s next game, OD, recently during The Game Awards 2023, the Internet has already gotten to work to decode hidden messages that the developer typically likes to sneak into his announcements. The TGA 2023 trailer for OD has been discovered to feature an interesting message, potentially nodding at Kojima’s cancelled Silent Hills.

Kojima's pedigree gives the game the ability to attract some real star power, with the legacy of the series and making a strong testament to his creative abilities. Information about is still fairly limited, but some key actors who will feature in it have already been revealed, along with some hints at what the game could be like.

Hideo Kojima turned up at The Game Awards 2023 to reveal OD, the Xbox-exclusive project that he has been working on. It is, shall we say, quite… odd.

The Game Awards 2023 wrapped earlier today, marking an epic conclusion to this year's video game season and celebrating the best games released in the past year. The lengthy ceremony was once again hosted by Geoff Keighley, live from Los Angeles, with Baldur's Gate 3 taking home the coveted Game of the Year award. As usual, there were a few exciting new announcements, and while some expectations were crushed, there's still a bunch to look forward to. Standout reveals this year include a collaboration between Hideo Kojima and filmmaker Jordan Peele, a free DLC for God of War Ragnarök, yet another Skull and Bones release date, and more surprises.

After premiering at this year’s Tribeca Festival, the documentary Hideo Kojima: Connecting Worlds has found a home at Disney+.

In between handing out awards to some of this year's biggest titles such as Baldur's Gate 3 and Alan Wake 2, The Game Awards 2023 featured a variety of game announcements and world premieres.

Hideo Kojima and Gonzo from The Muppets had just as much time on-stage at The Game Awards as the award winners themselves, who were hurried off-stage with a teleprompter reading "please wrap it up".

Hideo Kojima's new game was unveiled at The Game Awards 2023. It's been a few years since the Kojima Productions partnership with Xbox Game Studios was first teased, and we now have a little more information. The game is called OD, and it sounds pretty damn strange. OD – or Overdose as it's also being called – is set to explore the true nature of fear, blurring the lines between a traditional video game and a movie experience – drawing in top talent from Hollywood, including beloved actors and Oscar winning writers. 

Connecting Worlds will be released across the globe in the spring of next year, via Disney+.
