Sony’s first press conference of 2024 is just days away, but perhaps don’t set your expectations too high. The Consumer Electronics Show will get underway next week, and as is always the case, the Japanese giant will host its own press conference. While we’d expect references to PlayStation, the focus on the event will be to “showcase various technologies and initiatives that support creators, based on Sony's purpose to fill the world with emotion, through the power of creativity and technology”.
Last year at CES, the company demoed its PSVR2 headset and revealed its accessibility controller. With both of those products already readily available, we’re expecting a more subdued event from the platform holder, but considering the overall popularity of PlayStation – and its importance to the firm’s overarching business – we’re confident the console will be mentioned in some capacity.
The show will get underway from 5PM PST on 8th January, which is 1AM GMT the following day in the UK. Do you have any hopes at all for the event? Let us know in the comments section below.
A true PlayStation veteran, Sammy's covered the world of PS gaming for years, with an enormous Trophy count to prove it. He also likes tennis games way more than you.
If anything is going to be shown it will most likely be the PSVR2 version 2 or some new VR games.
Exciting to realize though that this year finally will be the year we get first glimpses of several PS exclusives including Naughty Dogs next project(s)
@Grimwood here's hoping they're ready to be revealed. Excited for what Bend studio, Firesprite and Bluepoint have been cooking up
Nothing to expect. It is a product show not a place to promote games. If there will be a ps5pro by the end of this year, it is likely too early to present it already at the beginning of the year. I could imagine a short trailer containing the ps lineup (ps5 slim, portal, ear buds, and released games) to promote the brand, but nothing more.
I just want to hear more about the car that I won't be able to afford but will still come out before the new TVR.
You never know, we might get news of the Spidey 2 patch...
But most likely nothing new this time as most of everything has already been leaked for the next couple of years. Tekken 8 news mainly though!
@Professor_Niggle Same! Specifically with Bluepoint, I'm curious about whether they're doing a remake for a game (Bloodborne please!) or a new IP! Maybe both?
@Professor_Niggle Bluepoint in particular for me. Whatever they make is just golden
