The release of Mortal Kombat 1 is nearly upon us! And, just in time for that, the official launch trailer has … well, launched! Included in this most recent trailer is a special focus on historic fighters Reiko (who was introduced in Mortal Kombat 4) in addition to Shang Tsung, who is, interestingly, a pre-order bonus.

We’re just days away now before the next mainline installment to the Mortal Kombat franchise arrives. With Mortal Kombat 1, we’re getting a new timeline, which means it’s a new and great opportunity for players to try this franchise if they haven’t paid too much attention to it in the past. The latest launch trailer has just dropped, giving you a recap of everything NetherRealm Studios has shared leading up to the game’s announcement of its upcoming launch.

Publisher Deep Silver and developer Starbreeze Studios have released a new trailer and screenshots for PAYDAY 3 introducing heisters Pearl and Joy, as well as announced the game’s post-launch content roadmap.

Perhaps most noteworthy is the introduction of a new playable party member: Seraï.

Grimy underworld PSVR2 shooter Hellsweeper VR will feature a co-op mode at launch, with full crossplay across different headsets. Due out from 21st September, the co-op mode promises a “full roguelike experience” where you’ll need to strategize with your partner in order to make it through alive.

One trailer at this week's Future Games Show (embedded above, or on YouTube) was not like the others. Outside of some obvious throwbacks to classic game genres, particularly retro RPGs, Dome-King Cabbage bears little resemblance to the other games we've seen at Gamescom so far. It's described on its Steam page as «a visual novel set in the world of a monster-collecting RPG,» but that phrase does little to indicate the surreal mixed media variety show the trailer makes it out to be.

Netflix Japan has shared a version of the live-action One Piece trailer with a Japanese dub – from the original anime voice cast.

Many video games have been based on hit movies that have been released. But with the upcoming Avatar Frontiers of Pandora, the team at Ubisoft is endeavoring to do something different. They’re not just trying to “retell a movie story,” they’re instead crafting their own. The game will be a tale that plays in conjunction with the two films but has its own setting in the world of Pandora and a new protagonist. Today, Ubisoft dropped a new trailer highlighting how powerful and beautiful the game will be if you get the game for PC. Needless to say, you will have options to try and have a good experience.
