Helldivers 2 ran into more server trouble that is preventing some players from logging into the hit multiplayer shooter as of early March. The ongoing issues appear to be related to the latest Helldivers 2 update that recently went live.
The patch in question expanded the game with a varied array of new content, including some additional weapons and Helldivers 2 mechs, called Patriot Exosuits in the shooter's jargon. But shortly after the update rolled out, some players started encountering server issues, something that hasn't plagued the game since February.
Arrowhead has now acknowledged the situation and said it's working on resolving it as quickly as possible. In a March 8 message posted to the Helldivers 2 Discord server, a company representative confirmed that the studio is aware of the issue with players being unable to log into the game. Although the problem coincided with the release of the latest Helldivers 2 update, the patch itself is not to blame for it, at least not directly. Namely, the company official cited an uptick in server traffic as the root cause of the issue, suggesting that people rushing into the game to try out mechs have «overwhelmed» Arrowhead's backend.
How long the situation will take to be resolved remains to be seen. In the meantime, Arrowhead CEO Johan Pilestedt has taken to Twitter to personally assure fans that the team is doing what it can to mitigate the problems. The executive also reiterated that the ongoing issues are a result of Arrowhead's servers having difficulties coping with the current player traffic volume, dismissing speculation that the latest Helldivers 2 update might have introduced some game-breaking bugs.
Pilestedt's statement is bolstered by the fact that Helldivers 2 had over 235,000 concurrent players on Steam alone at the time the executive shared his thoughts on the matter. The game peaked at over 363,000 concurrent PC players within the first 24 hours of the update going live, and is likely to go much higher than that now that another weekend is on the horizon. Its all-time simultaneous player peak on Steam sits at nearly 459,000 people.
The recent changes to the multiplayer shooter were mostly well-received, as underlined by this crippling influx of player activity. Some fans have been particularly pleased with the Flamethrower buff that was recently introduced into the game, while others praised the sheer content variety of the latest patch. Even so, the new update also contained a few controversial nerfs that prompted backlash from the Helldivers 2 community.

Helldivers 2 players are still fighting the good fight against Joel, the ever-present games master who is almost single-handedly directing the entire Galactic War. If the Automatons take over a planet, or the Terminids put up a strong fights against Super Earth forces, chances are there will be a group of players angrily shaking their fists at Joel for his tomfoolery.
There are few individuals as mysterious as Helldivers 2's galactic game master Joel – the man pulling all the strings of the war, constantly working to evolve the third-person shooter's evolving narrative, as well as issuing Major Orders to us all.
While continues to dominate the video game industry, one star is eager for a crossover with the game his film inspired. It doesn't take a lot to recognize that Arrowhead Studios' game and Paul Verhoeven's cult-classic sci-fi have a great deal in the company especially given that both act as satirical comments on the modern military-industrial complex and the influence of propaganda on society. Despite these heavy themes, there's still a great amount of fun to be had in either given that they also spotlight soldiers firing big weapons at giant alien bugs.
Several players have insisted that they've encountered a new type of flying Terminid but in keeping with the game's satirical tone,Arrowhead Studios' CEO Johan Pilestedt believes it's all nonsense. In the weeks after the game's launch, the community has been hard and working trying to figure out exactly what could be causing the Terminids to spread so rapidly among the stars. Some are speculating that Super Earth itself could be creating the «aliens» but the game's director is trying to throw everyone off the scent.
presents players with an abundance of different tools to eliminate the deadly armies of the Terminids and Automatons and Arrowhead Studios is giving fans some insight into how those Stratagems are created. One of the core components of the popular co-op shooter is the ability to call down equipment and support from the skies, most of which take the form of explosive air strikes or precision missile launches. They're undoubtedly one of the most fun aspects of and director Johan Pilestedt wants everyone to know how the team creates them.
makes a point of throwing droves of enemies at players but those who do their best to avoid combat may be shocked to learn that enemies have a few extra tools in their arsenals to detect sneaky players. During some of the game's larger open-world missions, Helldivers have the option to engage with roving bands of foes or, if they're careful, sneak past without raising the alarm. That's easier said than done, especially when the Terminids can use more than one of their sense to track their prey.
Helldivers 2’s surprisingly huge launch has already seen millions of players across PlayStation 5 and PC dip into its co-op focused third-person action. It’s a smash hit and easily publisher Sony’s biggest ever PC game launch. But while Helldivers 2 is certainly a game everybody should play, it can often be a brutal, unforgiving experience, with floods of hard-to-kill alien robots and bugs descending upon players in increasingly tough waves.
Helldivers 2 has exploded onto the gaming scene in a massive way. This co-operative third-person shooter packed with danger, action, humor, and surprises has already become one of this year’s most talked-about games. What some people may be less familiar with though is its progenitor. The original Helldivers, which debuted in 2015 (and is still active) is a co-op, multiplayer overhead twin-stick shooter packed with action, intensity, and plenty of challenging situations that a player might find themselves in.
is a game with plenty of strategic possibilities, but there's one key aspect of tactics that has been misrepresented from the start. Some areas where the game can be confusing have to do with bugs present at its launch, like the armor issue that has rendered heavy armor significantly less useful than intended. On the other end, however, some information can be deliberately withheld with the intention of making the game easier to get into rather than harder.
Following its release on February 8, took the world by storm and achieved an unimaginable gaming feat. The sequel to the 2015 game delivered a cooperative experience like none other in the gaming space, encouraging an unprecedented amount of teamwork and collaboration. Although playing solo is an option in, it requires a very specific build and presents a much greater challenge than diving in with other players.
Though some of the weapons in may be considered trash, they may not be as bad as they seem at face value. As the game has increased its player base, the weapons available to Helldivers have been placed into a community hierarchy. Though some guns may be marginally better than others, every weapon has its strengths and is viable for any mission. This flexibility, which transfers to most aspects of, has helped propel the game to success along with its chaotically fun gameplay.
