Being sci-fi shooters that launched on rival platforms, it was inevitable that Helldivers 2 would find itself compared to Halo Infinite. Even more so when Helldivers 2 proved to be a huge, surprise success, a far cry from Halo Infinite's disappointing launch, hardly improved by its ongoing support.
However, Helldivers 2's director, isn't a fan of these comparisons, even if they're quite favourable towards his own game. In response to a tweet hating on Xbox's exclusive shooter, director Johan Pilestedt says that there's no need to tear Halo down to big up Helldivers, making it clear that he doesn't agree with this perceived rivalry.
"Why compare?" says Pilestedt. "Just let gamers love and enjoy both, either or neither. We need more compassion and union in the world, and less rivalry."
This was in response to a PlayStation fan hating on the Halo series while using the term "Xbots", which tells you all you need to know. In any case, Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead seems unwilling to be dragged into the console wars, even if it comes with a whole lot of praise from PlayStation fans.
Of course, Helldivers 2's success isn't just down to its performance on PlayStation 5. It's also found a huge audience on Steam, as Sony made the rare move of launching one of its published games on PC from launch, rather than leaving audiences waiting for a port. This makes a lot of sense for a live service, since you'll want as many players as possible, as opposed to just using the game as a chance to drive up PS5 sales.
Unfortunately, being dragged into online debates between fans of different console brands isn't the only downside of Helldivers 2's success. As we reported earlier this week, scam Steam listings are pretending to sell Helldivers 2 at a huge discount, but are actually selling different games entirely. By replacing their names and promotional images with those of Helldivers, they're clearly trying to piggyback off the game's success and trick players into making the wrong purchase. So, if you're picking Helldivers 2 up on Steam, make sure you have the right version. However, it seems like all of the listings spotted earlier in the week have since been removed from the platform.

Helldivers 2 players have finally secured undeniable proof of blue lasers and flying Terminids appearing in the game, much to the dismay of the game's director.
Keep your head down, Helldiver, blue sniper beams (that may or may not exist) are rampant. Helldivers 2 players have been sharing footage of what seems like a new unfriendly faction in the game, though the shooter's director is determined to suppress such anti-democratic lies.
While continues to dominate the video game industry, one star is eager for a crossover with the game his film inspired. It doesn't take a lot to recognize that Arrowhead Studios' game and Paul Verhoeven's cult-classic sci-fi have a great deal in the company especially given that both act as satirical comments on the modern military-industrial complex and the influence of propaganda on society. Despite these heavy themes, there's still a great amount of fun to be had in either given that they also spotlight soldiers firing big weapons at giant alien bugs.
The director of Helldivers 2 says the shooter was designed to encourage players to work together, as "a good co-op game forces players to play together, but a great one makes players want to play together."
Several players have insisted that they've encountered a new type of flying Terminid but in keeping with the game's satirical tone,Arrowhead Studios' CEO Johan Pilestedt believes it's all nonsense. In the weeks after the game's launch, the community has been hard and working trying to figure out exactly what could be causing the Terminids to spread so rapidly among the stars. Some are speculating that Super Earth itself could be creating the «aliens» but the game's director is trying to throw everyone off the scent.
presents players with an abundance of different tools to eliminate the deadly armies of the Terminids and Automatons and Arrowhead Studios is giving fans some insight into how those Stratagems are created. One of the core components of the popular co-op shooter is the ability to call down equipment and support from the skies, most of which take the form of explosive air strikes or precision missile launches. They're undoubtedly one of the most fun aspects of and director Johan Pilestedt wants everyone to know how the team creates them.
makes a point of throwing droves of enemies at players but those who do their best to avoid combat may be shocked to learn that enemies have a few extra tools in their arsenals to detect sneaky players. During some of the game's larger open-world missions, Helldivers have the option to engage with roving bands of foes or, if they're careful, sneak past without raising the alarm. That's easier said than done, especially when the Terminids can use more than one of their sense to track their prey.
Heads up, Helldivers – literally. Seemingly out of nowhere, there've been sightings of flying terminids out in the wild, which the game's director – and the Ministry of Truth – insist are "filthy lies" and "propaganda from bug sympathizers." So, uh, we can probably expect to start seeing a lot more of them soon.
Helldivers 2's director has turned to its community for suggestions on how to stop meta-following players from kicking others.
is a game with plenty of strategic possibilities, but there's one key aspect of tactics that has been misrepresented from the start. Some areas where the game can be confusing have to do with bugs present at its launch, like the armor issue that has rendered heavy armor significantly less useful than intended. On the other end, however, some information can be deliberately withheld with the intention of making the game easier to get into rather than harder.
Following its release on February 8, took the world by storm and achieved an unimaginable gaming feat. The sequel to the 2015 game delivered a cooperative experience like none other in the gaming space, encouraging an unprecedented amount of teamwork and collaboration. Although playing solo is an option in, it requires a very specific build and presents a much greater challenge than diving in with other players.
