The next few weeks are really going to be ramping up with showcases and announcements, and there was a big one from Ubisoft a couple days ago. Of course, all the games companies reveal will be months, if not years away, so let’s bring the focus back more to the here and now… where I’ve been playing a game that’s a few months away from release. I got to dip a toe into Prison Architect 2, which has a big and daunting task to follow on the cult smash original. That’s been joined by a couple things I can’t talk about yet, so let’s move swiftly on!

A new update on the Toys For Bob website has Crash Bandicoot fans in a frenzy, as the site has shed its former appearance and is now displaying a purple tiki mask on a black background.

Arrowhead Games’ Helldivers 2 continues to be one of the biggest hits of the year, and it’s showing no signs of stopping down. A new patch has just been released on PC (more details through here), which helps with game stability and brings other miscellaneous fixes.

Like a lot of people, I played the incredible cat-driven adventure game Stray back in 2022, and also like a lot of people, I came away wishing that the whole game was just a simply, atmospheric cat simulator like the opening hours had been. I loved scratching trees and hopping across balconies, but as soon as the game introduced coloured keys and nuanced NPCs I lost interest. Little Kitty, Big City is a game that’s laser focused on delivering that wandering cat power fantasy I had been dreaming of.

Double Dagger Studio’s debut adventure game wears its feline admiration proudly, condensing this love into a bite-sized but nonetheless rich experience. Taking the nudging chaos of and tying it into some familiar platforming and collectathon fundamentals, elicits a broad grin at nearly every turn. It’s therefore hard not to leave it wanting much more, but we’re grateful for the time spent in its welcoming little world.

It's been a difficult stretch for the industry, so when we speak with Devolver Digital co-founder Nigel Lowrie at the Game Developers Conference, our first question is fairly open-ended: What is happening?

A Pokemon GO player has shared a curious detail showing what a PokeStop that is temporarily closed looks like. PokeStops are one of the most recognizable gameplay elements in Pokemon GO. They're found in places that encourage Pokemon GO players to explore their surroundings, such as parks, museums, historical monuments, or landmarks.

Helldivers 2 is about to actually start enforcing its previously stated requirement for players on Steam to sign in with a PlayStation account, and to put it mildly, the community isn't taking it well. After 20,000 negative reviews in less than 24 hours, the game's developers say they get why players are upset.

Helldivers 2 has enjoyed nothing but roaring success since its launch in February, though the last 24 hours have seen it on the receiving end of strong backlash. Sony recently announced that Helldivers 2 players on PC would have to link their Steam and PlayStation Network accounts to be able to play the game going forward, provoking strong criticism from the community. The game’s “Recent” user reviews rating on Steam – which takes into accounts user ratings for a game over the last 30 days – has fallen to “Mixed”, having received over 24,000 negative ratings on the platform just today.
