GTA 6 launch to take place earlier than anticipated? Insider suggests early 2025 release window

A reliable gaming insider has claimed that PlayStation plans to release a new Astro Bot game this year alongside several other "smaller" first-party titles.

Sony is planning a new PlayStation Showcase for next month, according to known insider Jeff Grubb.

Rockstar Games finds itself once again at the centre of a leaks storm, with the latest revelation purportedly stemming from an inadvertent disclosure by a Rockstar North insider. Shared by user @GTAVIGosssip, a blurry screenshot allegedly originating from a Rockstar North Games Tools Programmer has surfaced, hinting at intriguing details about the much-anticipated GTA 6. While it’s never a smart idea to pin all of your hopes on a single product when that product is easily the best video game adaptation ever and was so good even the Emmys and Golden Globes acknowledged how incredible it was, you tend to feel safe knowing that the same team is making another season of the story. The Last Of Us Season 2 took a while to get going production-wise due to the strikes within Hollywood last year, but it’s up and running now, and fans can’t wait to see what happens with the sophomore season. Just as important, they want to know when they’ll be able to watch it.

Last December, after literally years of speculation, rumors, and leaks, Rockstar finally dropped the first teaser for Grand Theft Auto VI, with a broad 2025 release date attached. It was appropriate that the GTA VI trailer used a Tom Petty song, because the waiting is indeed the hardest part, but at least fans have a firm 2025 end goal in sight… right? Right?

Awaken Astral Blade is a larger-than-life Metroidvania with massive monsters, precise platforming, and more earth-shattering magic than you can shake a gated map at. Its latest trailer is jam-packed with all of the above and more, tracking some of bionically-enhanced protagonist Tania's turbulent journey to reveal her origins and fate – while kicking scores of alien enemy butt along the way.   Better still, Awaken Astral Blade now has a release window – Q3 2024 - as revealed at the Future Games Show Spring Showcase.

A new trailer for has been revealed, alongside a release window. Skydance New Media originally announced the helmed Black Panther & Captain America game, which is helmed by and writer and director Amy Hennig, during the September 9, 2022, Disney & Marvel Games Showcase without a title.

It’s been a fantastic couple of years for fighting games, and SNK is aiming to keep the run rolling with Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves. While not specifically announced for any platforms just yet, it’s probably safe to assume this will release on PS5, as that’s where the bulk of the fighting game community’s audience plays. The outing is expected in 2025.

Science Saru has proven itself to be one of the most innovative studios working in anime today, having taken on projects everywhere from the surreal and elastic worlds of Masaaki Yuasa, to the graphic-novel inspired feel of Scott Pilgrim Takes Off and the galaxy of Star Wars: Visions. For their newest original series, the studio is turning to the world of the paranormal, with a quirky romcom set to arrive on the scene just in time for Halloween.

SNK has announced the return of Fatal Fury, coming 26 years after the series’ last release. Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves will be coming in 2025, though platforms are yet to be confirmed. Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves will also have English voice acting. SNK had first teased a new Fatal Fury in 2022, but had not given any details outside of some artwork.

SNK’s library of fighting franchises tend bleed into each other a bit, but back in the day, the company was best-known for the Fatal Fury series. Eventually, the King of Fighters series, which included characters from multiple SNK games, largely supplanted Fatal Fury, but now we’re getting a Furious return. While they teased it previously, today SNK officially announced Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, which will combine classic gameplay with the new “REV” system. Much like Street Fighter 6, the new Fatal Fury will also introduce a more casual “Smart Style” mode that will allow you to easily pull off special moves. SNK’s is back after a long absence, with set to release next year. In addition to revealing the game and announcing its release window, SNK also previewed some of the new and returning characters.
