Gran Turismo 7 has a "big update" on the way

It’s surprising to see that Half-Life has turned 25 years old. That is quite a milestone, and it’s a big enough one to warrant Valve to proceed with a special documentary and update drop. Today, fans of the franchise can sit in and watch an hour-long documentary as the original developers step back to 1998 and talk about the creation of this incredible video game that sparked so much interest from players around the world. It’s always ironic when a game that had superior success to anything that came before isn’t almost immediately followed up by a sequel confirmation or a sequel that arrives a few years later. In the case of Atlus, fans have been waiting for YEARS for the arrival of Persona 6. After all, the 5th entry didn’t just do incredibly well; it helped redefine the RPG genre in certain ways and got eyeballs on the franchise like never before! Not to mention, it was nominated for a slew of awards, including Game of the Year in 2017! So the fact that the 6th entry isn’t here yet, almost seven years later, is mind-boggling.

Publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment and developer Polyphony Digital have released the new opening movie for Gran Turismo 7 added as part the “Spec II” (version 1.40) update, which is available today.

The big Gran Turismo 7 SPEC II patch is here with a sweeping set of new cars, a new snow race, Sophy AI integration, and plenty of UI changes. It seems like it’s justifying that new branding, that’s for sure.

Polyphony Digital’s next update for Gran Turismo 7 will be its largest yet. Launching on November 2nd, Version 1.40 or Spec 2 will add seven new cars, a new opening cinematic video, Lake Louise Track and much more. Check out the trailer below.

Gran Turismo 7 has received a major update that is updated the title of the game. With even offering a new intro video, Gran Turismo 7 SPEC II will bring a good bit of content for free to owners of the game. Highlighting this update is seven new cars, a new course (off-road snow course), and a new update to Sophy will be available on Thursday. The circuit Lake Louise will bring three layouts with a long track offering 11 turns, a short track with 7 and a tri-oval. Arcade Race is being changed to Quick Race, with the option to race against the AI Sophy. Polyphony Digital has also added 4-player split screen races on the PlayStation 5 version of the game.

Polyphony Digital has revealed what it’s billing as Gran Turismo 7’s “largest” update since the game’s release last year.

The highly anticipated and controversial post-apocalyptic open world MMO The Day Before has been delayed again to December 7, 2023, but will only launch in Early Access on Steam with no word on a console release date.

Gran Turismo 7 is nearing its second birthday, but Sony and Polyphony Digital are giving the game a bit of a revamp via the new “Spec II” update. This update will add a variety of new content, including 7 vehicles and the new Lake Louise track set in the Canadian Rockies, but it also offers a variety of other features as well, including new challenges, an updated version of the GT Sophy racing AI, and 4-player splitscreen multiplayer on PS5.
