God of War’s Original Trilogy is Getting Remastered – Rumor

As Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone players await the Season 1 Reloaded update next week, a new update has gone live which squashes some bugs and adjusts some of the multiplayer maps' spawn points. The list of map spawn adjustments includes Meat, one of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3's newest original maps, which went live as part of Season 1 last month alongside another original 6v6 map named Greece.

It used to be that when a video game adaptation was announced, gamers would roll their eyes and watch as a trainwreck would slowly unfold before them. But more recently, movie and TV people have put much more time, effort, and budget into these adaptations, and the results have been worthwhile. TV shows and movies about video games have been nominated for awards recently, and some future adaptations are some of the more anticipated things coming out. For example, gamers were very curious when it was announced that a God of War adaptation was coming to Amazon Prime Video.

With the likes of The Last of Us, Uncharted, Twisted Metal, and Gran Turismo, Sony has adapted a number of PlayStation’s biggest properties of late, and there’s plenty more to come.A God of War series was greenlit for production at Amazon Prime Video in 2022, while a Horizon series has also been in the works at Netflix. At its CES 2024 press conference, Sony provided a brief update on both.

What if we told you that the future of the God of War franchise might just lie in the hands of Kratos’ young son, Atreus?

After virtually annihilating the entire Greek pantheon, Kratos (who is voiced by Christopher Judge) and his son Atreus (voiced by Sunny Suljic) are in dire need of new challengers and new realms to conquer in God of War 6. The perpetually enraged protagonist has already engaged the Norse realms in 2018’s God of War revival, opening doors to other new realms. I mean, why stop there when there are so many pantheons available for him to beat? God of War‘s Kratos could take on Egyptian gods, Iberian gods, and so much more.

The DLC for is not necessarily a modest addition to the game, but it isn't a full-blown expansion either. Regardless, it manages to add plenty of new content to the game. Throughout the base game, Kratos and Atreus manage to survive the last days of Fimbulwinter and play a key role in Ragnarok, an apocalyptic event in Norse mythology prophesied to result in the death of numerous gods. takes place after the base game's story in the eponymous mythical location.

Announced at The Game Awards 2023 and released as a free update shortly after, the DLC for sees Kratos fighting through the titular Valhalla in a fashion similar to a roguelite — making multiple runs which restart on death, and which offer both temporary and permanent resources and power-ups to make runs feel varied and distinct. Far from simply being a fun new game mode, however, also makes significant contributions in terms of story, with the DLC's narrative set after the events of and dealing with the disconnect between the classic games and the modern series.

The free, roguelite DLC for ,, isn't just a tacked-on additional mode, but an epilogue to the base game's story which sees Kratos directly confronting his past as the Olympian god of war. Part of this new chapter has Kratos reconnecting with an apparition of Helios – or more accurately, Helios' decapitated head. In the midst of Valhalla's ever-shifting locales, Mimir's head is occasionally replaced by that of Helios, heckling his murderer as Kratos navigates amalgamations of his memories. While allusions are made to Helios' decapitation and Kratos' motivations for performing it, doesn't expressly delineate the event from and its context.

God of War Ragnarok is an action adventure game created by PS Studios developer Santa Monica Studio for PS5 and PS4, and is the sequel to 2018's critically acclaimed God of War. In our God of War Ragnarok review, we described the title as «phenomenal» and awarded it a 10/10.

While an unexpected expansion to the latest game is a welcome surprise in itself, the additional quests offer some rewards that are likely to pique the interest of fans who have been following Kratos' journey since the original Greek saga.
