Polyarc has announced that their next game will be Glassbreakers: Champions of Moss, another VR game from the studio, but one that is leaning into competitive multiplayer for the first time. A gameplay reveal will take place on 29th August.
Known for the critically acclaimed Moss and Moss: Book II, this will be a significant change of pace for the team, going from the fourth wall-breaking platforming adventure where you can reach in and interact with the world at your own pace, to something that will pit you against another player. Polyarc describe it as an “all-new MOBA-like real-time battler”.
That said, it will still be set in the world of Moss, as can be seen from both the game’s subtitle and the key art for the announcement.
There’s no specific announcement regarding platforms just yet, but all signs point to this being a Meta Quest exclusive to start with. There’s a store page live on the Oculus site now, and you can register your interest for private closed playtests here, wherein you’ll be asked if you have access to a Quest 2 or Quest Pro headset.
Polyarc’s first two games were practically must-play games for VR acolytes. Moss was already great and the sequel built on everything that the original did so well. In our glowing Moss: Book 2 review, Gamoc said:
“Moss: Book 2 expands and improves on its predecessor in every way. Whether it’s the emotional attachment you develop with Quill, the surprising twists the story goes through, or the inventiveness of the combat and puzzles, Moss: Book 2 is creative in a way that delights at every turn.”
