Gigabyte has unveiled new Mini PC solutions in China as a part of its ITX & DIY PC range which feature AMD's Ryzen 8000G APUs.
Gigabyte seems tired of the traditional mini-PC products and has decided to unveil something innovative and more "compact" to help with the cause. The Metal Gear Plus ITX Mini PCs aim to squeeze in quality components such as AMD's Ryzen 8000G APUs & provide users with broader accessibility options instead of making the build unchangeable by going the full DIY route. There are a lot of interesting features with the Metal Gear Plus ITX, so let's get into them one by one.
Starting with the specifications, Gigabyte's Metal Gear Plus Mini PCs feature comprehensive options of AMD's Ryzen 8000G "Hawk Point" APUs, including Ryzen 5 8500G, Ryzen 5 8600G, and the highest-end Ryzen 7 8700G. All options feature decent compute and graphics performance through dedicated Radeon iGPUs onboard. It's certainly one step forward in the mass adoption of AMD's Ryzen 8000 APU lineup, which is already replacing the Phoenix series in the handheld and mini-PC segments.
The PC is equipped with a custom motherboard that features two DDR5 memory slots and a heatsink that covers the VRMs. Considering that there's no cut-out for a graphics card due to the limited space of the chassis, the graphics processing is handheld by the RDNA 3 iGPUs which are a great solution for entry-level gamers and support the latest technologies such as FSR 3, etc.
The Gigabyte Metal Gear Plus Mini PC adopts the Gigabyte's B650I ITX Ultra motherboard, which comes in a confined size, perfect for the computer's chassis. Through the motherboard, Gigabyte planned on giving the best performance-to-size ratio and providing consumers with the option of replacing onboard components quickly, making the DIY experience much better than traditional Mini-PC options. For memory and storage options, you'll get an option of 16GB of XPG's D300 "LANCER" DDR5 memory, along with 512 GB and 1 TB storage choices to ensure extensibility.
Cooling is provided by a Jonsbo top-down cooling solution in white color though these options are only available for the pre-built systems. There are also DIY-only barebone systems that cost a bit less.
Gigabyte added AC and DC power connectors to make the unit externally powered, to save space. The AC-to-DC connecting standards are more prevalent in China. There isn't much to talk about regarding the looks of the Metal Gear Plus ITX chassis since there isn't much going around,
