Gigabyte is making an important fix to the design of its GeForce RTX 4080 and 4090 series GPUs after various reports of cracked PCBs were spread online. PC gamers wanting to buy a high-end Gigabyte GeForce RTX GPU should be on the lookout for a new label on the packaging to ensure the GPU features an updated PCB design.
Gigabyte is a leading computer hardware manufacturer based in Taiwan, and the company offers a variety of low-end to high-end GPUs from both Nvidia and AMD. These GPUs include Nvidia's new RTX 40 Super series, which offers better performance and more competitive pricing compared to their non-Super counterparts. However, the company has faced scrutiny from customers in recent months, since some of Gigabyte's RTX 4080 and 4090 GPUs are cracking and failing while in use. Several users affected by this issue have attempted to claim this issue with Gigabyte in RMA requests, but the company rejected many of their requests.
As reported by Wccftech, Reddit user MisinformationALWAYS confirmed that an important fix for Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4080 and 4090 Gaming OC GPUs was made in the company's latest batch. Specifically, a PCB design revision ensures that graphics cards will not face the same cracking issues from the initial release. The new batch of GPUs is labeled as «v1.1» on the original packaging, and some users note that the v1.1 GPUs feature an improved 70a VRM setup. As a result, the newer RTX 4080 and 4090 Gaming OC GPUs offer a sturdier PCB with slightly better cooling.
Gigabyte's RTX 4080 Super GPUs are shipping with a revised design, so customers seeking to own one of the latest GPUs will not need to worry about PCB cracking issues. The GPU has a slightly larger PCB design that ensures rigidity and improves weight distribution. It's worth noting that an anti-sag bracket may be necessary for high-end GPUs in certain PC cases and configurations. Fortunately, RTX 4080 and 4090 GPUs from Gigabyte include an optional support bracket for those wanting extra reassurance.
Gigabyte did not address the public with information about the GPU design revision, but the fix is still a promising sign for those wanting to purchase a new GPU. Currently, Gigabyte offers a vast catalog of RTX 40 series GPUs, and the company's official website lists all the GPUs and their respective revisions. GeForce RTX 4080 Super GPUs are selling out at multiple retailers, so PC gamers may have a tough time finding one from Gigabyte until new stock is available.

There are few TV pleasures as dependable as the weirdo detective. It’s a trope as old as Arthur Conan Doyle — the skills necessary to deduce the wily ways of evildoers either demand someone be stranger than their peers or eventually make them that way. This can be misanthropic (Dr. Gregory House), endearingly annoying (the Psych boys), or some combination of the two (Castle), but it’s always good fuel for TV. Not only do you have a mystery to solve every episode, but you get to have fun watching normal-ass people just dealing with these characters — the weirder the better. And now, they’re making a comeback. Adrian Monk, Charlie Cale, Detective Danner — names new and old to the weirdo detective pantheon are cropping up on TV, joined this week by a face very familiar to some: Elsbeth Tascioni.
