According to new 4.5 leaks, it seems like Chiori may be just as bad a playable character as Dehya was when she first arrived in Version 3.5. Chiori is a Geo character that has been introduced as an NPC with the Roses and Muskets event in Version 4.3. Chiori’s release in as a playable unit, however, has already been confirmed for Version 4.5, and there are several leaks about how her gameplay kit will function. Rumors point to her being a Geo sub-DPS unit with some supporting capabilities.
Among the leaks that tend to focus on what her abilities do, however, is a detail that may indicate disappointing news for those who want to use her. As seen in updated leaks by HomDGCat, shared by a user on Reddit, Chiori may be a double-scaler, using both ATK and DEF to dictate the potency of her abilities. This is traditionally not good news for any character in, as it can result in a poor outcome of her skills. The leak hints at both her Elemental Skill and Burst using ATK and DEF to calculate the DMG.
The rumors that Chiori uses ATK and DEF as the main stats that her abilities scale off is not very exciting. Double scaling may, at first, seem like a way of circumventing the need for a single stat, but it actually makes building characters a lot harder. When farming for Artifacts, players may need to try to find pieces that equally distribute the required stats for Chiori. If they focus solely on DEF and neglect ATK, they will lack the proper damage output in, and the contrary is also true.
Chiori’s leaked kit mentions her Burst’s DMG considers 461% of her ATK plus 576% of her DEF. While her DEF allegedly takes priority in the build, her ATK is not too far off.
Dehya is a prime example of double scalers that lose their potential due to how complicated building them is. The 5-star Pyro unit from Sumeru has her Elemental Skill and Burst scale off both ATK and Max HP, which makes it difficult to build her. If players focus too much on ATK, a portion of her damage potential via Max HP is overlooked, and vice-versa. Farming Artifacts and obtaining the best stats for characters in is already difficult as it is with the randomization of drops, so looking for pieces with two stats can be even tougher.
Of course, double scaling was not the only issue that plagued Dehya’s release. The Pyro character also has some trouble in her kit’s essence, like the cancellation of her Burst if she jumps. So far, there have not been other rumors about Chiori being a bad character, but the leaks pointing at double scaling set up bad omens, as this is never a good sign. Rumors, however, should always be taken with a grain of salt, as they may be incorrect or subject to change, which means Chiori may arrive in completely different from what
