Gargoyles Remastered launches October 19 for PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC

Three years after Xbox and CD Projekt Red partnered to release a limited edition, Cyberpunk 2077-themed Xbox One X console, many of those who bought it are beginning to regret the purchase. Why? Because they're still waiting, years later, for any information at all regarding a refund for the recent Cyberpunk 2077 DLC release: Phantom Liberty, which was originally supposed to be in the bundle.

Rocket Panda Games has announced Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds Ultimate, a remastered version of the side-scrolling beat ’em up game rebuilt from the ground up on Unreal Engine 5. It will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store in 2024 worldwide.

Aspyr has announced Tomb Raider I-II-III Remastered for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC (Steam). It will launch on February 13, 2024.

With its groundbreaking 3D graphics, immersive environments, and thought-provoking puzzles, gamers everywhere were spellbound by Lara’s adventures. The original D-Pad controller provided precise control as players navigated Lara through treacherous terrains. Tomb Raider elegantly showcased the synergy of PlayStation’s capabilities, CRT displays, and intuitive D-Pad controls, laying the foundation for Lara Croft’s enduring legacy.

Roguelite action game Knight vs Giant: The Broken Excalibur will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Switch, and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG on October 5, publisher PQube and Indonesian developer Gambir Studio announced.

I never watched the original Gargoyles animated series, but I've been on the internet for long enough to know that it's a cult favourite for being a Disney show with surprisingly dark themes. I also know that its video game adaptation, released in 1995 for the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive, was a 16-bit platformer with a similar appeal to other Disney games of the period like Aladdin and The Lion King.

Classic SEGA Genesis action platformer Gargoyles will be reborn for PS4 on the 19th October. The predictably named Gargoyles Remastered will boast a new visual style that you can switch to at any time, along with a rewind function that lets you undo your mistakes (or even potential mistakes!). You can get a look at the graphical overhaul in the trailer above, which more closely resembles the Gargoyles animated series.

While it’s true that video games have a very lukewarm history with video game or TV tie-ins, there was a time when Disney was one of the kings of making great ones happen. Specifically, they were famous for taking some of their biggest animated properties and turning them into challenging yet fun video game titles. Aladdin, Lion King, DuckTales, and more graced gamer systems, and they are now treasured for what they were. But, given that plenty of time has passed since then, remasters are coming out more often, with the latest one being Gargoyles Remastered, which will be released on October 19th.
