The Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra retains the functionality and footprint of its direct predecessor, the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra, all the while sporting decent hardware upgrades. However, this year, Samsung went the extra mile and added IP68 dust and water resistance to all members of its premium tablet range, and evidence of this protection is seen in a short video clip, where the slate can be seen submerged underwater with the S Pen and used simultaneously.
The IP68 water-resistance rating of the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra was shown in a video posted by Francisco Jeronimo on Twitter, with the S Pen magnetically attached to the tablet. The device was submerged in a fish tank, and though the Tab S9 Ultra was only a few centimeters underwater, it had no problem interacting with the S Pen seamlessly. The fact that the S Pen can write on the tablet’s display while in contact with water with no input latency shows that the accessory also features some ingress protection.
With the IP68 rating, the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra can be placed in 5 feet of water for up to 30 minutes, giving it the same level of protection as Samsung’s latest Galaxy S23 family. The company states on the official product page that the leftover residue must be rinsed and dried after it is wet, likely to prevent unnecessary damage to the tablet. Keep in mind that just because a smartphone or tablet has been issued an IP rating does not mean it is completely safe from water and dust.

There have been instances where products have stopped working after being submerged, and since the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra was only shown to be a few centimeters above water, there is no way of determining how well it would perform with the S Pen if more water was added to the tank. Naturally, it is unlikely that any user would carry a massive tablet like this near any form of water, but it was a cool way of demonstrating Samsung’s latest IP68 protections for its premium tablet.

Have you ever witnessed a ring of fire in the sky? It happens because of the solar eclipse. A solar eclipse occurs when the Sun, the Moon, and Earth line up, either fully or partially. Depending on how they align, eclipses provide a unique, exciting view of either the Sun or the Moon. According to NASA, "A solar eclipse happens when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, casting a shadow on Earth that either fully or partially blocks the Sun's light in some areas,"
