French authorities get Apple software update after iPhone 12 dispute - ministry source

In an unprecedented incident, the release date of iOS 17.1 might have been leaked by the French national frequency agency! The L'agence Nationale des Frequences (ANFR) revealed the roll-out date of the update in a notice it issued regarding the iPhone 12 radiation situation. For the unaware, the iPhone 12 in France displayed a higher radiation level than what it accepted as per the standards of the country. As a result, the iPhone 12 was promptly banned. Apple reached out to the French authorities and assured them that they would fix the issue in the upcoming iOS update. It appears that Apple also told them the date by which the problem will be solved, and ANFR has included it in its latest notice.

Last month, the Apple iPhone 12 came into the headlines when authorities in France raised concerns about its electromagnetic emissions. The French National Agency for Frequencies (ANFR) reported that smartphone radiation may pose a health risk to humans, as the radiation emitted by smartphones is absorbed by the body. Just one week after the roll-out of the iOS 17.1 Beta 2, Apple has now released the iOS 17.1 Beta 3 update. The new update will be available to those who have signed up for Apple's Developer program and are eligible to receive beta updates. The rest of the users will not see this till the stable version is rolled out globally, which is likely to happen by the end of the month. The Beta 3 update has added an important feature to the Action Button that will prevent accidental activation while in the pocket or a bag. Additionally, the Wallet app has also been given an important fix.

Among the five arrested are Ubisoft's former chief creative officer, Serge Hascoët, and former vice president of editorial and creative services, Tommy François.

Five former Ubisoft employees were detained in France this week — three on Tuesday, and two more on Wednesday, according to a report from French newspaper Libération. Former Ubisoft chief creative officer Serge Hascoët and former editorial vice president Tommy François were among the five people detained and questioned by French police.

French competition regulator Autorité De La Concurrence has conducted a raid on graphics giant Nvidia.

According to the Wall Street Journal, France's competition authority conducted a raid on NVIDIA's offices in the country earlier this week. The agency itself revealed it raided "a company suspected of having implemented anticompetitive practices in the graphics cards sector."
