Forza Motorsport Pre-Loads Are Live, Requires 132 GB of Storage

Though Forza Motorsport’s global launch is still about a day away, the racing sim title has been available in early access for a few days now, and as you’d expect from any game (especially this early in its life), in spite of being a technically impressive product, it’s not totally devoid of glitches.

Another somewhat worryingly warm week is coming to a close, so it’s time to check in on the video games that we’ve been playing. First and foremost in my own gaming time has been Forza Motorsport, which toes the line between reinvention and continuation for Turn 10’s Xbox counterpart to Gran Turismo. It’s a game that I’m looking forward to seeing grow over time, that’s for sure.

Turn 10 Studios has released a new trailer for Forza Motorsport, its reboot of the acclaimed racing sim series, to prepare for launch. It’s next week for Xbox Series X/S, PC and Game Pass, but is available today for Premium Edition owners. Check it out in action below.

Given that there hasn’t been a new Forza Motorsport game since the seventh edition was released in 2017, it should come as no surprise that Turn 10’s latest entry is visually streets ahead of what came before it.

The series has been the go-to racing series for Xbox players since all the way back in 2005, and in spite of various challengers nothing else has quite compared. Along the way, gamers have also been introduced to the series, with an expansive approach to racing in a series that is always improving. Now, Turn 10 Studios is back with , returning to the core franchise.

Forza Motorsport’s developer, Turn 10 Studios, finds itself in an odd position. This is the eighth game in a series that used to be a flagship for Xbox. And yet, after an uncharacteristic six years away, it returns to find that its fun-loving younger sibling series, Forza Horizon, has stolen the limelight. This process was already underway when Forza Motorsport 7 came out in 2017 — it’s probably the reason Microsoft felt an extended break for Motorsport was both comfortable and necessary — but in the intervening time, the two strongest Horizon titles yet found an enormous new audience on Game Pass and beyond. This means Forza Motorsport has to explain itself all over again to a new generation of Forza fans brought up on Playground Games’ freewheeling automotive vacations.

We’ve had a pretty busy year so far, but Microsoft’s final major release of 2023 is finally here, with the reboot of Forza Motorsport.

Forza is looking to go back to what made it the premier racer for many fans. By having the ultra-realistic mechanics to putting players as close as they can be to their dream car, it’s no wonder why the series is a household name now. Continuing this trend, Turn 10 Studios is looking ahead and bringing back the fan-favorite franchise: Forza Motorsport. We haven’t seen a new Motorsport game since Forza Motorsport 7. So for all the car heads out there, this is something to look forward to. On top of that, it looks like Turn 10 Studios wants to replicate the Forza Horizon’s accessibility in this entry. This way Forza Motorsport has the potential to be the biggest in the series.
