Unreal Editor for Fortnite has received new assets that allow enthusiasts to make their own LEGO Creative Islands. Their arrival has been accompanied by the release of three additional LEGO Islands in Fortnite.
This development marks another milestone in Epic Games and LEGO Group's ongoing partnership, which was envisioned as a long-term project meant to usher in a comprehensive digital «metaverse» geared toward child-friendly entertainment. While the collaboration was originally announced in April 2022, it is still in its infancy; its first result only arrived in December 2023 in the form of a LEGO-themed survival crafting Fortnite mode, aptly called LEGO Fortnite.
That experience was later expanded with the addition of two new LEGO Fortnite game modes, Raft Survival and Obby Fun, which debuted in late February. Epic and LEGO are now following up on that move with the release of Unreal Editor assets that let anyone create their own LEGO-themed Creative Islands. The pack was announced during the third day of this year's Game Developers' Conference (GDC) in San Francisco.
Accompanying this developer-facing release are three additional LEGO Fortnite Islands that players can access as of today. Fans interested in a combat-focused experience can hop into LEGO Battle Arena, which will allow them to learn the ways of Spinjitzu and test their martial arts prowess against other players, all the while marveling at a digital take on a dojo inspired by the LEGO Ninjago line. Those looking for something a bit less fighting-oriented can instead turn to the new Fortnite prop hunt map arriving in the form of a picturesque LEGO Island.
The third mode, LEGO Cat Island Adventure, looks to be by far the most relaxing of the trio, not least because it features a mini-game that tasks players with befriending a cute brown feline on a beautiful autumn isle by completing various objectives. Accessing the new LEGO Creative Islands in Fortnite is as simple as searching for them from the main Lobby menu by name or finding them listed under the Discover tab.
Following these additions, LEGO Fortnite now comprises five official Creative Islands that extend its base survival crafting experience. While it's unclear whether more will follow in the near future, the arrival of Unreal Editor assets allowing anyone to make their own levels suggests there should soon be no shortage of such LEGO Fortnite maps to choose from.
LEGO Fortnite is a mode within Fortnite that draws inspiration from Minecraft. You'll build structures, craft weapons, and upgrade your village to help you survive the monsters that come out at night.
