Fortnite is at peak popularity right now, following an outrageously successful OG season, and the launch of various new games, including LEGO Fortnite and Rocket Racing. With the holidays upon us, many had been looking forward to Epic Games’ annual WinterFest, where historically it’s introduced a cosy cabin for players to hang out in and unwrap presents.

But while you will find Crackshot’s Cabin as a place of interest in the Chapter 5 Season 1 map, you won’t be shaking any gifts this year. You will be able to earn a new cosmetic every day, but WinterFest 2023 is located under the Quests menu, and simply will see you unlocking a new item every 24 hours. It’s pretty low effort compared to what’s been offered in the past.
Understandably, fans are shocked by the simplicity of it all. To be fair, it does look like there’ll be two free skins made available as part of the annual holiday celebration, so there’s still plenty to look forward to. We always enjoyed the cosy cabin vibes, though, as it allowed you to pick which gifts you wanted to unwrap first, shake them about, and interact with other areas of interest.
Perhaps the developer has simply been too busy getting all these new experiences off the ground to flesh out its holiday event this year. A shame!

They've ruined the whole menu as well. It was fine before, now you can't just click someone to join their game and the constant yellow dot notifications telling me I have new quests and items when I don't is really annoying.
I've been getting back into Fortnite recently. The platform is incredible, and I like rhythm games, so love playing a track in Festival every night.
However, the game has always felt a little soulless. Everything is just extremely clinical, to the point where the game where it makes me feel awkwardly detached. So I can never get into it for longer than half an hour.
(I think it's kind of smart though, to not do the winter cabin this year. Let the new modes have the spotlight, and the cabin can return next year.)
Christmas ruined !
Not gonna lie, I missed the cabin yesterday after reading that winter fest was beginning, the gift in the quest list seemed rather pointless. Then I got clobbered in the “throw only” mode to rub salt in the wound.

If you spent money on the PS Store this holiday – and, look, there’s a strong chance you did – then you’re probably pondering what has happened to your PS Stars loyalty points. EA obviously acquired developer Metalhead Studio a little while ago, and this was its first release under the mega-publisher’s umbrella. Is there a better way to start the year than playing a new Yakuza / Like a Dragon game? It was Yakuza 0 that fronted the first few months of a memorable 2017 for Japanese gaming fans, and now Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is primed and ready to begin another hot streak for the country's developers seven years later. The likes of Persona 3 Reload and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will follow in the weeks that proceed it, but the joint adventure of Ichiban Kasuga and Kazuma Kiryu is what you'll want to play first. 2024 opens with the SEGA series in its prime.
