Fortnite's return to Chapter 1 might be a big hit with most players, but some have pointed out the locations and features that strangely weren't bought back, like the bouncy Loot Lake and Mega Mall.
It's not like Fortnite ever stopped being one of the most popular live service games out there, but it got a huge popularity boost earlier this month thanks to the Fortnite: OG mini-season, which takes things back to the good old days of 2018 and lets us revisit us a bunch of Chapter 1's landmarks and gameplay mechanics.
Fortnite: OG has been so popular that it not only resulted in a new all-time player peak of over six million players, but it has also caused an influx of requests that OG becomes a permanent game mode.
Although Fortnite: OG brings back most of Chapter 1's most popular features, it hasn't brought all of them back so far. Over on the Fortnite subreddit, Redditor ProdbyPyxlwhip shared a list of all of the things from Chapter 1's fifth and sixth seasons that haven't made the jump over to Fortnite: OG, ranging from some popular locations to a few gameplay features that are currently missing in action.
Most of the things missing from Fortnite: OG that ProdbyPyxlwhip highlighted are locations, with some of the biggest omissions including Mega Mall, Neo Tilted, Wailing Woods' secret lab, and the Haunting Hills castle. It's not clear why these areas haven't been revisited, but Neo Tilted and Mega Mall in particular were popular with players, so it's a shame that they've been left out.
While it's surprising that some of these landmarks didn't make it into Fortnite: OG considering most of them are popular with fans, it does make sense for some of them not to return. As great as Gotham City was to explore in Fortnite's first Chapter, it was also unlikely to be featured in the OG Season since it was part of a marketing deal with DC, one that would likely have to be renegotiated.
Although most of Fortnite OG's missing features that are highlighted in the post are locations, perhaps the most heartbreaking omissions are to do with everyone's favourite purple Rift cube - Kevin. Kevin did make an appearance in the OG season, but he strangely no longer moved around the map like he did in Season 5 and, most importantly, didn't melt in Loot Lake and turn it into one massive bounce pad.
It's not currently clear why Fortnite decided to miss out on these locations and features in particular, but considering the OG season is trying to revisit several different Chapter 1 Seasons in a single go, it's understandable that not everything could make a comeback. Let's just hope that Kevin gets the respect he deserves in the future.
