Lawrence Sullivan, also known as the Florida Joker, has issued a "final warning" to Rockstar Games and is demanding $5 million for the parody of him in the GTA 6 reveal trailer.
After years of speculation, rumours, leaks, and waiting, the start of this month delivered something that Grand Theft Auto fans have been waiting a very long time for - the official reveal of GTA 6. As the record-breaking YouTube views show, almost everyone was happy with the reveal and all that it told us about the upcoming game. Note that I said almost everyone.
Lawrence Sullivan, who you might know as the "Florida Joker" for his distinctive tattoos and dyed hair, wasn't so impressed with the GTA 6 reveal after spotting a character that was clearly meant to be a parody of him. Shortly after the trailer was released, Sullivan shared a video reacting to it and demanding that Rockstar offer him some kind of compensation, with his last video on the topic suggesting he wanted $2 million for it.
Sullivan isn't the only real-world person or situation that's being parodied in the GTA 6 trailer, as the whole reveal is packed full of strange events that are based on seemingly everyday life in Florida.
Now, several weeks later, Sullivan has released a new video on the matter that acts as a "final warning" to Rockstar Games. In the video, Sullivan says that he's just come back from Miami after talking to his lawyers and reveals that he's now sent a letter to Rockstar and will take legal action against the parody if the studio doesn't respond to him by January 11, his birthday.
"Ya'll playing with my intelligence. It's been mad days, this is the final warning. I've just came back from Miami, just came back from California, and talked to both of my lawyers... If we don't get a response until after my birthday, which is January 11, we're going to take legal action. I want 5 million dollars now."
Although Sullivan was previously asking for $2 million, he's now upped his claim to $5 million, as he says that he's being harassed wherever he goes because of his resemblance to the character in the GTA 6 trailer. As we've noted before, parody law means that he probably isn't going to get his money or possibly even a response to Rockstar, but it's interesting to note that he has finally confirmed that he plans to take legal action instead of just demanding money.
