Various Chinese smartphone makers will eventually move out of the local market and turn their attention overseas, starting with Europe, and many of these flagships feature MediaTek’s latest and greatest Dimensity 9300. With these launches, we can expect some heated competition for Apple and Qualcomm, as these handsets are not only attempting to take away the brand’s market share but also MediaTek’s aim to take away the chip dominance of its competitors.
The X100 and X100 Pro headlined Vivo’s launch in China in the previous month, as these were the first to feature the Dimensity 9300. Though these devices were slated to be sold locally first, the Chinese firm has turned its sights on Europe and expanding to other regions, too. As reported by Android Authority, the X100 series will eventually branch out to India, Indonesia, and South East Asia.
While European market expansion is on the cards, Vivo will only release the X100 Pro there, likely due to targeting the premium market that the iPhone dominates. It is possible that Germany will not be included in the launch expansion because of Vivo’s legal troubles with Nokia. More Chinese smartphone makers targeting overseas markets is a positive outcome for customers, as they have more options at their fingertips.
However, they cannot decide until they know the official X100 and X100 Pro pricing in these regions. Sadly, Vivo has not confirmed these details, but it mentioned that the X100 will retail for 5,998 Hong Kong dollars (approximately $768), while the X100 Pro will retail for 7,998 Hong Kong dollars (around $1,024). The last time Vivo unveiled its high-end smartphone lineup in Europe, these went for as much as €1,300, so it will not be surprising if the same price range is targeted with the X100 Pro.
Analysts have praised the Dimensity 9300 for its performance and other attributes and believe that MediaTek is on track to increase its market share to 35 percent in 2024. Its Dimensity 9400 will be the company’s first 3nm SoC, so it will be an interesting year considering that even the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 and Apple’s new A-series of chipsets will take advantage of TSMC’s cutting-edge architecture.
