Final Fantasy 7 Remake Trilogy Will 'Link Up' with Advent Children | Push Square

Square Enix has been slowly pulling back the curtain on what fans can expect from the upcoming sequel to Final Fantasy VII Remake. The original game was a masterpiece in nearly every way, and was praised for respecting the original game while expanding on all that could be done in the Midgar section of the title. With the upcoming sequel, gamers will finally see much of the rest of the planet and get new characters to help them flesh out their party and, by extension, the story. But a new rumor states that there’s already been work done on the game’s final entry.

Square Enix has taken to social media platform X to explain the artwork featured on the cover for the upcoming Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Created by creative director of the game Tetsuya Nomura, the artwork is meant to represent three distinct worlds that Cloud Strife, Sephiroth, and Zack Fair find themselves in.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is going to be a much more open experience than its predecessor, and it seems like fan feedback was among the reasons behind this.

Nintendo’s next-gen console has been in the leaks a great deal recently. Allegedly set to be capable of outputting visuals that’ll be comparable to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S thanks to its implementation of DLSS, recent leaks have claimed that the Switch 2 will be seeing simultaneous releases for a lot of major multiplatform games. However, if you were hoping that the console would also get a port of Final Fantasy 7 Remake – as some have speculated – it seems that won’t be the case.

While there’s still some debate over just how real the reveal trailer for Phantom Blade Zero was during a recent State of Play livestream, its prequel is already almost here. Due out on 2nd November on PS5 and PS4, as well as various mobile devices and PC, the side-scrolling Phantom Blade: Executioners will get the story started – and will be free-to-play. Update: Sony says the reason the Knights of the Old Republic trailers are being removed from its YouTube and social media accounts is due to music licenses expiring. In a statement to IGN, the organisation said: “As part of normal business, we delist assets with licensed music when the licenses expire.”

Following a very short delay of roughly one day, Patch 3 for Baldur's Gate 3 is available to download now on PS5. Now available for preorder, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth's Collector's Edition comes with some tantalising extras, including a girthy bust of the long boy himself: Sephiroth, the One-Winged Angel (the wing is detachable).

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth may not be released until February next year, but the hype around the title grows with every new insight. The recent trailers highlighted numerous expansions into the world of the remake saga, as well as the characters that will help dominate the story. However, as with the first title, there will be expansions outside of the “expected story” that will help make things feel fleshed out. Both the game’s official Twitter handle and the creative director behind the title have shed some insights on this matter, not by focusing on main characters but key supporting ones.

The Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy can never be faulted for its scale or ambition, and in its drive to be the most thorough, comprehensive, and frankly, unexpected retelling and reimagination of the original’s iconic story, it’s managed to already go above and beyond in ways that have taken many by surprise.
