As we already know, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is a PS5 exclusive, and we had assumed that, like its predecessor, it would remain as such for a full 12 months — or thereabouts. But as it turns out, Rebirth could be finding its way to additional platforms much sooner.
The game's latest trailer — which is pretty bloody good, by the way — has a slide at the end which reiterates the PS5 exclusivity, but the small print reads «Not available on other formats at least until 05.29.2024». That's just three months from its 29th February release date.
The «at least» part is likely just covering any potential lead time that other platforms might need, but we'd guess that this suggests a PC port is coming sooner rather than later. We also wouldn't like to rule out the possibility that the reimagined saga will end up on Xbox one day — perhaps as a complete collection, or maybe much sooner, as a double pack that includes Remake and Rebirth.
What do you think of timed exclusivity deals like this? Tell Cloud he can hang around in the comments section below.
Robert's been a dedicated PlayStation fan since the days of Tekken 2, and he still loves a good dust up. When he's not practising combos, he's usually getting lost in the latest 100-hour RPG, or, y'know, replaying The Witcher 3.
So that is basically confirmation it hits PC/XSX 3 months later.
@Cashews Well, PC, not necessarily Xbox given Final Fantasy's recent history.
@ShogunRok Switch 2 launches 5/29/24 confirmed, duh.

October's PS Plus Essential games have been officially announced, and yes, before you even start to question it, we should point out that the leak was accurate. Three monthly games will be up for grabs next week, on the 3rd October.
High on Life is getting its first major piece of paid DLC next week. It's called High on Knife, and you can get up close and personal with the experience from 3rd October. We got a predictably odd claymation trailer announcing the offering, and while you should still expect a somewhat silly experience, the developers wanted to make things a little bit spooky this time around.
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is an asymmetric multiplayer horror title based on the iconic IP of the same name, and apparently, it's something of a hit. Developed by Sumo Nottingham and published by Gun Interactive, the game's official Twitter showed off its impressive body count, more than four million across all platforms, and said: "That's a whole lot of BBQ".
Honkai: Star Rail will officially launch on PS5 this coming 11th October, but as the title has already been available for several months on PC and smartphone, it’ll be disembarking alongside v1.4. As is the cadence for all HoYoverse titles, the titanic Chinese developer will host a livestream later this week, on 29th September, to detail everything you can expect from the release’s next major refresh.
Update: A PR rep for Resolution Games has reached out to us regarding the upgrade path for Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs. Those that already own the game on PSVR can upgrade to the PSVR2 version for a fee of $9.99.

Fans have been pleading for years, hoping that Square Enix would provide a remake of the beloved Final Fantasy VII video game. This title launched back on the original PlayStation. Of course, we now know this remake was finally put into production, but it won’t be a complete experience with just one game. In fact, the first part of the remake has already been published, and you can enjoy it right now. However, if you’ve already played the first game in the remake collection for Final Fantasy VII, your eyes might be set on that next installment, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.
At launch, Final Fantasy 16 sold over 3 million units worldwide, which isn’t exactly a number to scoff at by any metric, but not long afterward, it emerged that the game’s initial sales hadn’t met “the high end” of Square Enix’s expectations. While that may be true, however, ultimately, it seems the action RPG’s launch sales have still been in line with what the company was hoping for.
Update: Tomb Raider I-III Remastered is now available to pre-order on PS Store. The new listing also reveals the collection's price, which is a very reasonable £24.99 / $29.99 (USD). PS Plus members can get a 10 per cent saving on that, too.
In case you missed the memo, Marvel's Avengers is leaving storefronts at the end of September. Square Enix's live service-centred superhero action game will be no more after about three years on the market, leaving PS Store on 30th September 2023 (though you can still play it after this date). However, as spotted by GamesRadar, you can at least check the game out in its final weeks on sale for a seriously reduced price.
Contra has had its highs and lows over the years, but the franchise is obviously famous for its arcade debut, which is arguably one of the greatest shooters ever made. Now, developer WayForward has announced a modern reimagining of the all-time classic Contra: Operation Galuga, which promises “modern graphics and sound, new stages, new enemies and bosses, new play mechanics, an updated weapons system, and explosive co-op combat for up to two players in Story Mode or four players in Arcade Mode”.
