Final Fantasy 14 x Final Fantasy 16 Crossover Quest Starts on April 2nd

It’s been a month and a half since Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth launched, and the open world action RPG has garnered near-universal acclaim in the time since then, with everything from its story and characters to its combat and more having received widespread plaudits. Another area where the game has received such praise from effectively all corners is its music- and if you’ve been waiting to get easy access to that soundtrack, you’re in luck.

It is no exaggeration to say that Final Fantasy Tactics is one of the most successful spin-offs in the long history of Square Enix's IP.

A potential remaster of Final Fantasy Tactics has been in the rumour mill for several years at this point, and even though official word on whether or not it exists remains elusive, Final Fantasy 16 producer Naoki Yoshida – who’s also the director and producer of Final Fantasy 14 – has indicated that he, at the very least, is personally interested in seeing Final Fantasy Tactics be brought back.

The Final Fantasy 16 crossover quest is now live in Final Fantasy 14 and appears to give a look at how the forthcoming 7.0 graphics update will look.

Final Fantasy 14’s crossover with Final Fantasy 16, as teased last year, arrives tomorrow. The crossover between the MMO and latest single-player entry in the RPG series has the usual selection of goodies up for grabs, including a very cute minion, a not-so-cute (but still kind of cute) mount, some Clive-cleavage armour and more.

Matthew Mercer, the prolific voice actor who played Vincent Valentine in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, recently discussed how he first found out who he would be voicing and how much it took him by surprise. While Vincent Valentine was an optional, missable party member in the original Final Fantasy 7, he played a major role in the backstory and larger expanded universe of the original game, quickly becoming a fan favorite that gamers couldn’t wait to see again in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.

With Square Enix’s Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth out now on PS5 and earning extensive accolades from critics, the development team is focusing on the third and final entry of the Remake saga. Though it hasn’t announced a release window or even an official name, a new 42-minute video is available where Rebirth composer Nobuo Uematsu, scenario writer Kazushige Nojima and creative director Tetsuya Nomura talk about the trilogy.

It’s been a huge 12 months for Final Fantasy, and Square Enix is seemingly just getting warmed up. Following on from the reveal of Final Fantasy 16 add-on The Rising Tide earlier this weekend, the publisher has now confirmed MMO expansion Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail will deploy on 2nd July. This all follows the release of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth last month, of course.

The long-awaited Final Fantasy XVI crossover is coming to Final Fantasy XIV on April 2 and running through May 8. Fans have been waiting for what seems like eons for the collab, which was initially teased in a trailer back in October 2023.

Final Fantasy XVI producer Naoki Yoshida has shared much news at PAX East. To begin with, during the panel held last Friday, we learned a lot about the upcoming Rising Tide DLC, which drops on April 18 for PlayStation 5 and adds a new area, ally, and the Leviathan Eikon.

Final Fantasy 14 just revealed the Final Fantasy 16 crossover event will begin on April 2, and will be available until May 8. Players will have just over a month to experience the collaboration event in Final Fantasy 14, and score some exclusive collectible items in the process.

could be on its way to Xbox consoles, based on a comment from producer Naoki Yoshida. While a PC port is already in development, this is the first hint of the 2023 action RPG coming to other consoles.
