Final Fantasy 14's Yo-Kai Watch Event Is Being Dominated By Blue Mages

Final Fantasy 14's Yo-Kai Watch event has returned for a second time, allowing players to pick up some unique weapons, mounts, and one of the world's ugliest dogs. It's a great time to start farming FATEs with your fellow players, earn some medals, and get yourself some cool swag - or it would be if Blue Mages weren't making things ten times harder than they have to be.
If you've been trying to gather medals over the past few days, chances are you've run into a Blue Mage that has been wiping FATEs before you can land a single blow on an enemy, leaving you with nothing but a bronze ranking and a healthy dose of depression. This is because Blue Mages are exceedingly powerful, with abilities such as Hydro Pull that can quickly gather all enemies, and Ultravibration, which can one-shot them all.
Usually, this isn't an issue in most content, as the Blue Mage is a "limited" job. That means they're not allowed to participate in PvP, Duty Finder queues, field operations, or proceed with the main scenario. This is due to how busted they can be, as Blue Mages learn a ridiculous amount of spells from the game's enemies, but they can unfortunately participate in FATEs, in which players need to earn at least a Silver rank to get a medal.
It's not all that difficult to get either a Gold or Silver medal in a FATE, but it does become tricky if you have a Blue Mage following you around alongside a lot of other players also gunning for those medals. FATEs then become a game of getting a few hits on at least one or two enemies that spawns slightly out of range of the Blue Mage and hoping to Hydaelyn you did enough for Silver. You can find several players struggling to deal with Blue Mages in the Final Fantasy 14 subreddit, for example.
Thankfully, the Yo-Kai Watch event runs all the way up until the release of Dawntrail, meaning we have a couple of months to grind out those medals and get the weapons/mounts we want. Eventually, the hardcore grinders will drop off, leaving FATEs relatively uncontested, so it may be best to wait a couple of weeks if you're one of the many players currently struggling with those dastardly Blue Mages.
