Bethesda has said that issues preventing some PlayStation Plus subscribers from accessing Fallout 4’s next-gen update have now been resolved.
Fallout 4’s long-awaited next-gen update was released last Thursday, allowing players who own the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game to upgrade to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions for free.
However, players who redeemed the PS4 game when it was previously available as a PlayStation Plus title soon discovered that there was no option to upgrade it.
“Thanks for letting us know that some PS Plus subscribers have been unable to access the free next gen update of Fallout 4 on PlayStation,” Bethesda said today.
“This issue has now been successfully resolved. Subscribers who have previously received Fallout 4 from the PlayStation Plus Collection should now be able to access the update as intended.”

Fallout director Todd Howard said this week that Bethesda isn’t ruling out partnering with external developers on future games as it looks to find solutions to increase its output.
Amazon also said on Monday that its Fallout TV show attracted 65 million viewers in its first 16 days, making it the second most-watched show on its streaming platform behind The Lord of the Rings: The Ring of Power, according to Variety.
Sony Interactive Entertainment has revealed May 2024’s PlayStation Plus Game Catalogue and Classics titles.
If you somehow haven’t played the 2018 open-world classic Red Dead Redemption 2 yet and you have a PlayStation Plus subscription, we have good news. PlayStation announced in a blog post Wednesday that the game will be available for free for the Plus program’s Extra and Premium tiers.
Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced the May 2024 Game Catalog lineup for Extra and Premium subscribers, and Classics Catalog titles for Premium subscribers.
Witness the end of the Wild West era, become the world’s greatest secret agent, take on the role of a rising underworld star, brave an alien world, and much more with May’s PlayStation Plus Game Catalog lineup! Red Dead Redemption 2, Deceive Inc., Crime Boss: Rockay City, Stranded: Alien Dawn, and many more titles are available from May 21. We’re also announcing new classic titles coming to PlayStation Plus Premium.
As promised and/or threatened, depending on your perspective, open world game Fallout 4 has gotten some new graphics tweaks and bug fixes to smooth out the bumps caused by its previous “next gen update”. The update broke a bunch of mods, delayed a few interesting overhaul projects like Fallout London, and generally made everyone shake their fists at the sky and shout “Howaaaard!” Remember folks: auteur theory unduly credits a single creative for a group effort - the dice that Todd rolls every time he decides whether or not to break the game are also clearly to blame here.
What is it Wendy Cope wrote? “Bloody Fallout 4 patches are like bloody buses. You wait half a decade for one, and as soon as that one breaks everything, Bethesda releases another just days later.” Yeah, pretty sure that’s it. Anyway, Fallout 4 will get another patch for the near decade-old game next week, presumably to help fix a lot of the problems its long-awaited “next-gen update” introduced two weeks ago.
A new report is bad news for subscription services like PlayStation Plus and Xbox Game Pass, as data suggests that spending on those services has been stalled for nearly a year. Microsoft and Sony have both bet big on PlayStation Plus and Xbox Game Pass, with Microsoft in particular going all-in on Game Pass. Xbox Game Pass is a cornerstone of Microsoft's current gaming strategy, with the company bolstering the service through the release of massive, day one games.
Bungie is giving all players access to several Destiny 2 expansions for a limited time. This is meant to help players prepare for the new Final Shape expansion coming in June. The upcoming Destiny 2 expansion comes with a new subclass, new overhauls, a new enemy faction, and the conclusion of the ongoing narrative arc.
May’s first batch of PlayStation Plus games are now available to claim.
PlayStation Plus subscribers have one last chance to claim the free PS Plus games for April 2024, even though it's already May 6. New PlayStation Plus free games are rotated in on a monthly basis. The previous PS Plus free games are available until the first Tuesday of the following month, and so Monday, May 6 marks the last day that subscribers can snag the free games that were available in April 2024.
PlayStation Plus is getting some exciting new additions in May, allowing subscribers to pick up a variety of games and keep them as long as a subscription is active. A small selection of rotating monthly titles is available to download across all three tiers of the service, which offer varying degrees of benefits for different price points. On the more costly Extra and Premium tiers, May will also bring new entries to a more permanent catalog that consistently adds more games than it loses.
Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced the May 2024 Monthly Games lineup for PlayStation Plus Essential subscribers. All titles will be available from May 7 to June 3, unless otherwise noted.
