LEGO has officially revealed an upcoming set for the 50th anniversary of the tabletop RPG, and it packs a lot of iconic elements into one design. The origins of the model come from a LEGO Ideas contest held in 2022, which picked one fan design as the winner to be produced as an actual set. Although the concept has undergone some revisions by official LEGO designers, the overall size, structure, and ideas of the contest winner all make it into the final product.
The new set is officially called DUNGEONS & DRAGONS: Red Dragon's Tale and is set to release on April 1, 2024 for LEGO insiders and April 4 for anyone who isn't in the program. It features a large build of the titular red dragon alongside an inn, a crumbling tower, and some ruins to explore. With a total of 3,745 pieces, Red Dragon's Tale comes in at a price of $359.99 in the United States and earns the designated 18+ rating for adult-targeted LEGO sets.

LEGO feels like a natural evolution of the history of fantasy and medieval themes from LEGO and the company's modern array of licensed products, and Red Dragon's Tale is definitely designed to be the ultimate execution of the idea. The six included minifigures will be of interest to all collectors and fans, with options ranging from a bard to a rogue along with brick-built designs for a beholder, owlbear, gelatinous cube, and more.
LEGO's involvement in the celebrating the 50th anniversary of doesn't end with Red Dragon's Tale. Anyone who buys the set in the first week of April will also receive a LEGO Mimic Dice Box promo set. For a more affordable alternative to the massive set, LEGO is following up Red Dragon's Tale with a blind box collectible minifigure series in September 2024.
Also in April, an adventure module made as a collaboration between LEGO and Wizards of the Coast will be offered as a free digital download or a physical copy that can be redeemed for rewards points, and a game session with popular players will be made available to watch on April 6 through official channels. This game night is hosted by Anjali Bhimani, the voice actress behind characters like 's Symmetra and a frequent guest on programs like Critical Role, and features Luis Carazo, Ginny Di, fan designer Lucas Bolt and LEGO designer Jordan Scott.
It's always possible that the success of these products could lead to more LEGO sets in the future, but streamlined collaborations aren't uncommon for the company. Regardless, it's nice to finally have some official supplies for a brick-built

That's why Lego giving its customers something for free should not be sniffed at, and right now Lego is giving people an entire set free of charge provided you spend over a certain amount through its official store.

Cloud, Tifa, and Aertih's Bring Arts figures were the exception. The collectibles caused a stir when they went on sale in 2022 due to the NFT versions of the figures that came with their Digital Plus editions. Square Enix is now selling the Cloud and Tifa options again following Rebirth's release but has made the wise decision to do so without including any NFTs.
