Billionaire and notorious weirdo Elon Musk gatecrashed a Cyberpunk 2077 recording session to try and worm his way into the game. This comes from the new memoir on Musk, which recounts the time he brought an antique gun to the studio, describing himself as "armed, but not dangerous".
Better yet, it was his own partner's recording session that he interrupted. As per his own words in the new book, Grimes was recording her own parts for Cyberpunk 2077 - as she was actually invited to play a part in the game - only for Musk to turn up and "insist" he get a cameo. Sadly, the studio relented, and an NPC that resembles him was shoved into the game.

"When Grimes was doing the voice recordings for the cyborg pop star she played in the video game Cyberpunk 2077, he showed up at the studio wielding a two-hundred-year-old gun and insisted that they give him a cameo," reads the memoir, written by Walter Isaacson.
"The studio guys were like sweating," says Grimes in the passage. Musk then admits to the whole thing himself, saying he told CDPR staff he was "armed by not dangerous."
Musk also adds that he wanted in on the game because its use of cybernetic implants "hit close to home", referring to his own attempts to create a human brain chip, Neurolink. However, "attempts" is putting it generously, because Neurolink has been said to have killed 15 monkeys in trials as of February 2022. Which, in fairness, is perfectly in keeping with how corpos operate in Cyberpunk 2077, so it's easy to see why Musk felt right at home. He must've been a bit bummed out when he realised Arasaka were the bad guys, though.
We've reached out to CD Projekt Red to see if it has anything to add to this strange little anecdote, and will update this report should we get a response. Having the richest man in the world wave a 200-year-old gun around your studio is bound to be something that sticks with you, after all, even if it was a busy few months in the office.
In any case, for all the big talk, Grimes's part in the game was much more significant. She played the part of in-game musician Lizzy Wizzy, appearing in her own questline. Her tracks, Delicate Weapon and 4ÆM can also be heard on the in-game radio.

Additionally, X also stated during the meeting that the advertisers are returning back to the platform, although with smaller budgets.
X (formerly Twitter) has added another change to the iOS app version of its platform which might frustrate many users. The app has stopped showing headlines on the articles and other pages shared via URL to the platform in some regions. This means when a user shares a URL, it will only show the lead image of the web page and the domain name. As a result, users who follow Twitter accounts of news outlets and individuals who share the same will now face a tough time understanding what the content is about. Reports reveal that this change has directly come from company owner Elon Musk.

Former Twitter Trust and Safety Head, Yoel Roth, who resigned last year after a run-in with billionaire owner Elon Musk, has issued a stark warning to X (formerly Twitter) about its precarious position concerning the European Union's Digital Services Act (DSA) as well as its safety policies. Speaking at the recent Code Conference 2023, Roth, was interviewed by Kara Swisher. Roth highlighted X's withdrawal from the EU's Code of Practice on Disinformation in May and cited Commissioner Vera Jourova's accusation that the platform is a major disinformation spreader. Roth believes that a confrontation with EU regulators is now inevitable, given the DSA's severe penalties of up to 6% of global annual turnover for breaches. However, while that issue is still simmering, what really caught the eye was the poignant and stark reminder of what happened to Roth after the run-ins with Musk, including death threats that even forced him to sell his house and move in order to stay safe. Roth said these death threats were "inspired by the company's leader".

That same month, Blizzard Entertainment launched its first new game franchise in years with the colorful hero shooter Overwatch, which would go on to sell over 50 million copies. And, years later, these two moments in pop culture history intersected.
