Elden Ring's much anticipated Shadow of the Erdtree DLC has received its ESRB rating and description several months ahead of its June 21 release. Unsurprisingly, 2022's Game of the Year Elden Ring was stamped with an M rating for its brutal and violent nature and common depictions of blood and gore.
Back in February, developer FromSoftware finally dropped its reveal trailer for Shadow of the Erdtree. The thrilling trailer confirmed Miquella's involvement in the DLC's narrative and established that his cracked egg in Mohgwyn Palace will serve as the entry point into the Land of Shadow, the massive new area Shadow of the Erdtree will take place in. The trailer also unveiled a cryptic new villain named Messmer, who seems like the DLC's final boss. His flowing red hair already has fans spinning up theories pondering possible connections to other Elden Ring bosses like Malenia, Radahn, or Radagon.
With a release date of June 21, there's still time left until Shadow of the Erdtree's debut, though this didn't stop the ESRB from already revealing the DLC's rating and description. To nobody's surprise, Shadow of the Erdtree maintains Elden Ring's M for mature rating, listing blood and gore, language, suggestive themes, and violence as key factors. The brief rating summary describes Elden Ring's gameplay, such as its third-person perspective and some of the many weapons players wield against the game's variety of dangerous enemies.
Strangely, the ESRB description also makes indirect mention of two of Elden Ring's most distinct bosses, Stormveil Castle's Godrick the Grafted and the often considered toughest boss in the entire game, Malenia. Unless Godrick and Malenia show face in Shadow of the Erdtree, which seems highly unlikely, it appears that this ESRB rating summary is describing Elden Ring proper and not the upcoming DLC. Other major DLCs that have been released recently, like Cyberpunk 2077's Phantom Liberty, either don't have an ESRB page at all or don't even have the rating summary box filled out. It's possible that Shadow of the Erdtree's ESRB description may be properly updated as its release draws closer.
Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree DLC is locked in for a June 21 launch. In the meantime, many fans are busy preparing their builds for entry into the mysterious Land of Shadow. With no other major games set to come out around Shadow of the Erdtree, it's certain to draw a ton of attention in the summer months as it looks to welcome a ton of new players.

An Elden Ring bug has managed to turn the wishes of several fans into reality by allowing a player to fight Dragonlord Placidusax a second time. While FromSoftware games usually don't have a lot of bugs, the few that pop up in Elden Ring tend to be hilarious or interesting, with this find falling into both categories.
Elden Ring: Shadow Of The Erdtree will release in June 2024, but even if you buy it day one, you might not be able to access the Elden Ring DLC expansion’s new overworld areas and dungeons right away. This is an add-on aimed squarely at those in the later stages of the game, as FromSoftware’s own Elden Lord Hidetaki Miyazaki has revealed in a new Famitsu interview – to gain access, you must first defeat two of the main game’s nastier bosses. Yes, I know that all Elden Ring bosses are nasty, but these two are among the worst, in my experience.
's much anticipated DLC, titled, has made its players wait for its release. 2022's Game of the Year was released two years ago, and in the time since, FromSoftware remained relatively quiet about its expansion until recently. Since the drop of the latest trailer for the DLC, it has many fans counting down the days until they are able to once again delve into the Lands Between, but is this something that the community will regret?
An Elden Ring player has noticed an interesting change that occurs to the Erdtree after defeating Maliketh, the Black Blade. The game's world, also known as the Lands Between, is enormous and filled with various surprises that many players miss even after spending hundreds of hours exploring.
is already a massive game but one dedicated dataminer learned that FromSoftware's RPG was originally intended to be even more gigantic. As players explore the massive world of The Lands Between, they'll uncover a couple of notable underground areas that not only serve as a fresh change of pace from the fields of Limgrave but also pose a significant challenge thanks to their more claustrophobic environments. As it turns out, the developers originally intended for there to be even more of these locales as well as a unique mechanic that would have altered the world completely.
A dataminer has found some cut underground content hidden in Elden Ring. From players discovering new caves, illusory walls, and secret bosses, FromSoftware’s masterpiece is packed with things to find. Some secrets can’t be found by playing the game itself. Elden Ring has some hidden cut content buried deep within its files, which one YouTuber has been digging into.
One highly skilled Elden Ring fan has recently taken inspiration from another player's screenshot to produce some immensely impressive artwork of Astel, Naturalborn of the Void. Their creative feat adds to the never-ending stream of amazing fan art that Elden Ring has inspired to date.
Most players have likely been invaded by either Mad Tongue Alberich or Ensha of the Royal Remains, if not both, without totally understanding why. Alberich is a sorcerer who first appears on the lower level of 's Roundtable Hold. This fight is practically inexplicable at first, requiring players to leap off of the balcony where Rogier settles in at the hub area. Mad Tongue Alberich has no dialogue and only drops assorted multiplayer items, but some other hints throughout the game can help contextualize his place in 's lore.
A subtle detail opens a rabbit hole of violence, stretching back centuries into the Lands Between's past. As is usually the case with From Software games, 's lore is deliberately mysterious and obtuse. Rarely do characters offer comprehensive explanations directly to the player, and even when they do, they almost always do so with ulterior motives. For the most part, it's up to the player to piece together stories by looking closely at certain details. Recurring trends, out-of-place objects, and item flavor text can reveal a wealth of information about the world of.
Elden Ring players are defeating some of the game's largest and toughest bosses with a unique bubble build. Since it was released in 2022, FromSoftware's open-world action RPG has seen the popularization of a variety of broken strategies that arguably messed with the overall balance of the game, and even now, new approaches to Elden Ring's many challenging boss fights are still emerging.
