Tekken 8's first DLC fighter, Eddy Gordo, has been confirmed to be joining the game on April 1 in early access for players with the Year 1 Pass and will be purchasable for everyone else on April 4.
With new fighters like Azucena, Reina, and Victor alongside a ton of beloved veterans, Tekken 8's roster is easily one of the series' best in quite some time. As great as it is, though, there are several noteworthy characters who are missing in action, such as Christie, Bob, and Mokujin, to name a few. While it's not likely we'll see either of those any time soon, we are at least getting to see everyone's favourite Tekken 3 character return to the ring - Eddy Gordo.
We've known for some time now that Eddy Gordo, who is unarguably one of the most popular fighters in Tekken history, would be Tekken 8's first DLC character, but we finally know exactly when he's jumping in the ring. The news of Gordo's arrival came thanks to an episode of Tekken Talk Live that was just released, which featured Tekken 8's chief director, Katsuhiro Harada, game director Kohei Ikeda, and producer Micheal Murray talking about what's next for the game.
Let's get the most important thing out of the way first - the release date. If you've got the Year 1 Character Pass included with the Deluxe or Ultimate version of Tekken 8, then Eddy Gordo will be available in early access on April 1, and if you've got the standard version of the game, then you'll have to wait a few days to purchase him separately on April 4.
Beyond revealing when players can expect to get their hands on Tekken's capoeira master, the stream also gave us a good look at the man himself in action through a gameplay trailer, showcasing that his animations and moves have been completely remade since his appearance in Tekken 7. Gordo has several new moves in his arsenal alongside his classics, but it was also explained that he'd been simplified and streamlined a little to make it easier to fight against him.
Considering Eddy Gordo can be one of the most frustrating characters to fight when you're up against someone who knows what they're doing with him, that is very good news.
Outside of Gordo, Harada, Murray, and Ikeda also confirmed that an update is coming to Tekken 8 on April 1 that will introduce a number of character adjustments and minor changes, such as it being easier to escape from throws, the damage scaling on downstate and floor bouncing being reduced (sorry Dragunov fans), and, most importantly, Azucena's 3-2 slash kick getting nerfed.
