There are three distinct endings to , but two are rather underwhelming by design. Capcom's RPG is the long-awaited sequel to 2012's, and shares much of its identity, including the themes which come to a head in 's conclusions. As the title suggests, deals directly with the dogma of the series' universe, putting the player at the center of a seemingly unending cycle to repeatedly delay the apocalypse at the hands of the Dragon.
[Warning: The following article contains spoilers for Dragon's Dogma 2.]
Much of the main story revolves around Vermund's false Sovran, a title that is supposed to be held by the Arisen, the player's character. The Arisen is chosen by the Dragon, who plucks the Arisen's heart out of their chest, becoming destined to confront the Dragon in an attempt to forestall the end of the world. After investigating the Godsway, an artifact which gives the false Sovran control over Pawns, the Arisen comes into possession of the Empowered Godsbane Blade, and is urged to follow Lord Phaesus through the Agamen Volcanic Islands, leading to 's standard ending.
The most straightforward conclusion to, and one that players will almost assuredly encounter naturally, sees the Arisen meeting their fate and confronting the Dragon. Lord Phaesus flees from Talos, a Gigantus that emerges from the sea, forcing the Arisen to fight Talos and stave off the destruction of the outposts and villages on Agamen Volcanic Islands. The Arisen pursues Phaesus to Moonglint Tower, where he is hoping to control the Dragon and end the cycle of the Arisen.
Phaesus' plan proves fruitless, and the Dragon offers the Arisen a choice: battle the Dragon in an attempt to stop the apocalypse, or sacrifice a dear friend and walk away unscathed. The Dragon will have an NPC in its clutches, and which NPC is determined by 's affinity system, a hidden friendship value determined by quests completed for and gifts given to individual characters. Approaching the Dragon and attacking is how the player advances to the standard ending, but accepting the Dragon's terms and sacrificing the NPC by walking away will trigger the bad ending.
Opting for the bad ending has the Arisen crowned Sovran with no fanfare in a short cutscene, after which the main menu gives the option to reload the last save.
Confronting the Dragon has the Arisen climbing on its back, followed by an extended sequence in which the Dragon gives a monologue on the way to the final arena. Although the Arisen makes the flight on dragonback alone, they are rejoined by their Main Pawn and recruited Pawns in the volcanic final battleground. Unsurprisingly, the Dragon is 's final boss, and defeating it leads to the intended standard ending of the game, where the Arisen is crowned

Most players have likely been invaded by either Mad Tongue Alberich or Ensha of the Royal Remains, if not both, without totally understanding why. Alberich is a sorcerer who first appears on the lower level of 's Roundtable Hold. This fight is practically inexplicable at first, requiring players to leap off of the balcony where Rogier settles in at the hub area. Mad Tongue Alberich has no dialogue and only drops assorted multiplayer items, but some other hints throughout the game can help contextualize his place in 's lore.

Developer Nightdive Studios has revealed that it will be releasing a massive patch for its remake of System Shock that will, among many other things, also bring a playable female Hacker. For context, the ability to choose the protagonist’s gender was originally mentioned as one of the stretch goals for the game’s Kickstarter campaign.
A big 'ol patch is coming to the System Shock remake next Thursday, headlined by "[reworking] the entire final fight with new mechanics and a unique flow" and adding a female character option for our hacker. Update 1.2 will also tweak and fix and fiddle with heaps of other things. Our System Shock review called it "a breathtakingly beautiful and astonishingly faithful remake that proves the enduring power of Looking Glass design" when it launched last year, though I would say System Shock's final battle is one of the most dated parts, so I'm curious to see the new form.
