While fans eagerly await some kind of news on Bioware's upcoming , the game's release window may have finally been confirmed. The highly-anticipated RPG, which was announced all the way back in 2018, has largely been missing from action over the last six years as the developer has yet to offer any substantial updates on the title and its production. Bioware may still be keeping quiet when it comes to sharing details on the project, but publisher EA may have suggested that an official reveal could be coming very soon.
Per video game journalist and reputable insider Jeff Grubb on X (formerly Twitter), EA is planning on releasing two projects before the end of the fiscal year which concludes on March 31, 2025.
Commented on official documents recovered from a recent shareholder meeting, Grubb confirmed that one of these titles is although specifics on a release date were not mentioned. The statement does confirm that the company will share specifics on timing and release dates at a later date, suggesting it will make this information public before the end of 2024.
The upcoming and highly-anticipated Dragon Age 4 will need to answer several questions that fans have had for the last eight years.
Some confusion was sparked by EA's use of the term «unannounced titles» given that was revealed many years ago but Grubb believes this phrasing is referring to "." This could be an indication that the fourth could be in fans' hands before the end of 2024 but this remains pure speculation. Given the title's lengthy development cycle, it's not impossible that the gap between an official gameplay reveal and the release date is relatively minor but this is still speculation at this time.
Bioware has trickled out information on ever since it was confirmed to be in development, noting by way of the title thatthe game's antagonist will be Solas, potentially making it a direct sequel to . In terms of what locations will feature, a brief teaser trailer revealed that players will be able to explore the lands of Antiva, Rivain, and Anderfels. An art book released to celebrate the franchise also suggested that a large portion of the story will take place in the Tevinter Imperium, a fan-favorite locale.
Despite the excitement surrounding, the game has faced its fair share of challenges. The project has been plagued by a high turnover rate among staff, even losing several lead developers since its announcement back in 2018. How this will impact the final product remains to be seen but fans are hopeful that Bioware will deliver another classic RPG.
