Delta emulator changes logo after Adobe lawsuit threats — but just barely

At Summer Game Fest, we checked out the tactical first-person shooter game Delta Force: Hawk Ops. The game will feature a premium 'Black Hawk Down' campaign mode and two free-to-play multiplayer modes: the large-scale PvP Havoc Warfare and the extraction shooter Hazard Operations. Following our hands-on preview, we interviewed lead developer Leo Yao, who revealed that the game is entering early access in October with a projected release window in early 2025. It will be available on PC (where there's an Alpha test scheduled next month), consoles, and mobile devices.

As the first new entry in the Delta Force franchise in fifteen years, Call of Duty Mobile's director Leo Yao has certainly picked a passion project that most modern gamers might have had the opportunity to play. Stepping away from the tactical roots of the Delta Force franchise, Hawk Ops aims to modernize the shooter series with modern components while retaining some of the signature elements of the series.

While Apple seems to have opened the floodgates when it comes to emulator apps on iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV, you may have noticed that certain systems are conspicuously missing from the menu. There's a good chance that's because of a specific feature known as "JIT" compilation being restricted by App Store rules.

Tencent's Team Jade (formerly known as TiMi Studio Group) has released a brief Summer Game Fest teaser for its upcoming tactical first-person shooter Delta Force: Hawk Ops. A special stream event is scheduled for June 7th at 14:00 PDT, and the game will be playable during Summer Game Fest Play Days from June 8th to June 10th.

Delta, an emulator that can play Nintendo games, had to change its logo after Adobe threatened legal action. You'd think it would face trouble from Nintendo, seeing as it has been going after emulators these days, but no. It's Adobe who's going after the developer, which told TechCrunch that it first received an email from the company's lawyer on May 7. Adobe warned Delta that their logos are too similar, with its app icon infringing on the well-known Adobe «A,» and asked it to change its logo so it wouldn't violate the company's rights. Delta reportedly received an email from Apple, as well, telling the developer that Adobe asked it to take down the emulator app.

Planet of the Apes is one of those franchises that won’t go away. The first entry hit theaters like an atomic bomb in 1968 and spawned four sequels, two television series, and a remakesteered by director Tim Burton in 2001. More recently, the Planet of the Apes reboot movies kicked off with 2011’s successful Rise of the Planet of the Apes, which paved the way for Matt Reeves’ critical and commercial smash Dawn of the Planet of the Apes in 2014 and War for the Planet of the Apes in 2017.

It’s only been a month since Apple started allowing retro game emulators on the App Store and we already have our second bona-fide hit. The newly-released Gamma is a free PS1 emulator with plenty of bells and whistles for those looking to dive back into the world of blocky polygons. It joins the massively popular Nintendo emulator Delta. We have no idea why these apps keep getting named after the Greek alphabet, as both are made by completely separate devs.
