Dead Island 2 Haus Story Expansion Arrives in November

Dead Space 3 has lived in infamy thanks to some controversial decisions that were made about the game’s core design and story. Story producer Chuck Beaver, speaking with YouTuber CaptainBribo, has revealed that he would like to “almost completely” rewrite the game’s story.

Dead Space fans were given a few video game titles to go through when the series was initially released into the marketplace. However, some fans quickly dropped the franchise when Dead Space 3 hit. This installment was not something original fans found interesting, and it didn’t bring enough new fans to replace them to warrant the game franchise with another mainline installment. As a result, the black sheep of the franchise was credited as being the reason we saw such a long hiatus for this IP.

After Dead Space was successfully remade earlier this year, thoughts naturally turned to the sequels and how they might be remade. But this was especially true of, which ended up being a rather notorious entry as the horror was diluted and EA poured microtransaction soup into the gears of what made Dead Space work.

With how much Dead Island 2’s apocalypse parody poked fun at the Los Angeles area earlier this year, I guess it was only a matter of time before it turned its attention from vicious zombies to equally mindless cultists. I mean, how could they forget California’s reputation for welcoming eccentric people who then take advantage of our tolerance by brainwashing vast swathes of the population? Thankfully, this is something developer Dambuster Studios has corrected with its first DLC, Haus, which transports your character to a cult compound in Malibu where you’ll rub elbows with rich elites and smack down zombies who look like they’re dressed for the runway. And while I won't turn my nose up at a few more good laughs from a game I enjoyed, a three-hour runtime and very few new wrinkles to change up Dead Island 2’s basic zombie slashing formula make this jaunt extremely short-lived and a little unexciting.

The first story expansion for Dead Island 2 is coming out in just a few weeks, with Dambuster Studio and publisher Plaion confirming that Haus will release on 2nd November.

I was mixed on Dambusters' Dead Island 2 - I thought the combat had flair but not much depth, loved the game's decadently disastrous Los Angeles, but hated how exploration boiled down to nosing around for crafting materials.
