Counter-Strike 2 update adds beloved map, but removes iconic game mode

When Sonic Frontiers was released late last year, it was generally regarded as good but "rough around the edges." Because of that, it's been great to see Sega move to support the game further post-launch with a series of updates with free content. Teased today at Gamescom, the next pack of content, known as «The Final Horizon» update, is the most exciting yet, promising new story, new challenges, and even new playable characters.

Counter-Strike 2 isn’t here just yet, at least not in full, but the upcoming FPS game has fans all over the world excited. Valve has kept the hype going with its limited playtest, but many players have been awaiting news of an open beta or early access. The team behind Steam has been hard at work improving Counter-Strike 2 with updates to its limited test, and it looks like the most recent one may actually mean some kind of CS2 release is in sight.

Palia is a life simulator in which humanity has suddenly reappeared in the idyllic farming community of Kilima Village. Players can hunt, mine ore, build cozy houses, and grow crops on their properties. The game entered open beta on Aug. 9, and developer Singularity Six has now released a patch for the game with more main quest progress, found item quests, balance changes and bug fixes, new items, and even pets.

The latest Counter-Strike 2 patch potentially signals a drastic overhaul to game length in the Valve shooter, as competitive and private matches are disabled, and a fan-favorite map is added to the CSGO, FPS game sequel. With the Counter-Strike 2 release date likely on the horizon, it seems Valve is reinventing how competitive games will work by lowering the amount of rounds and cutting one alternate mode entirely. The Counter-Strike 2 limited test also gets some revised character models and adjustments to the all-important smoke grenades.

Capcom has released the first big update for its recently-released mech dinosaur game Exoprimal.

Developer HoYoverse (formerly known as miHoYo) announced the release of the Genshin Impact 4.0 update across all platforms.
