Counter-Strike 2 Gets Community Map Support with Latest Update

If you're a big fan of Valve's work, chances are you'll know that one of its most popular and beloved titles, Left 4 Dead, started out as nothing but a mod for Counter-Strike. Original developers Turtle Rock created a mod called 'Zombie City' for the shooter, which is possibly the earliest prototype of Left 4 Dead that we currently know of. Earlier today, Valve seems to have accidentally left it in a recent update for Counter-Strike 1.6.

Left 4 Dead's co-lead, Chet Faliszek, reminisces about the early days of the co-op PvE (player vs. environment) zombie shooter and what it took to finally get it off the ground. 

Chet Faliszek, the lead on Left 4 Dead—who is now making his own retro sci-fi version called The Anacrusis—says that Gabe Newell had some pretty strong opinions on the game during its troubled development.
